The talented Curtis Humphrey aka Kalpataru Tree has provided Fluid Radio with an exclusive recording of a recent live performance.
This will be broadcast on Saturday 11th October at 9pm (GMT-UK).

"Recorded live @ Priceless, Belden Town, CA. Priceless is an annual event put together by the False Profit crew out of the Bay Area. Held on the banks of a beautiful river, Priceless is a camp out filled with beats, breaks, swimming, beaching and art. This set was recorded Midnight - 1:30am, Saturday, September 27th. This set was followed by Androcell, making a night of Deep, Dubby, Dreamy music in the Chill Dome.
85 Percent of the music in this mix is material yet to be released. Some of it could be released as "Kembwe" a side project with Vocalist Wahkeena Sitka Tidepool Ripple http://www.myspace.com/kembwe
Other Tracks should appear on a new album which I'm thinking should be released sometime in 2009, with the tenative name of "Preverberations from the Infinite Future". Some tracks are on myspace http://www.myspace.com/kalpatarutree
I'm still looking for the right label to release my stuff, so if you're a label person and you like my sound - please contact me!

Very much looking forward to listening to this set on the radio and even more to hear the new tracks.
A label should be snapping Curtis up straight away as his music is original in so many ways |

Wow! Can't wait to hear this!!!!!!
I have seen Kalapatru Tree live twice and I think he is one of the best new ambient / dub organic artists out there... his music has the warmest feeling and most dreamy + original sound. Nothing like the 'laptop' produced, cookie-cutter chillout that is so common.
I agree that "Scattered Fragments of the Eternaal Dream" is a cult classic, the emotion and overall feel reminds me quite a bit of of Solar Quest's "Orgship"...
Looking forward to his next album...! |

Curtis has given the all clear for the mix to be added to the Fluid Radio blog. Not only can you listen again to the wonderful sounds of Kalpataru Tree live, but he has also given permission for it to be downloaded from the site.

well reading this has just made my day
I haven't been this excited about an artist since perhaps Phutureprimitive's debut back in '04.
this is very likable music simply because you can tell this really comes from the heart - there is much emotion coming through with these sounds.
A very exciting project, keeping my faith in downtempo psychedelia.
edit:
someone please give this guy a deal, perhaps Interchill or one of the other bigger labels are interested? must be causing a stir ??

The live @ Priceless festival mix is phenomenal...
Nothing like that clinical, forgettable downtempo that goes stale after 2 months... this feels organic, musical and timeless.
ALBUM SOON PLEASE!!!!!!!!! |
