for every kind of stuff that isnt crispy and shiny enough, usually samples from the internet. but not only, i excite punchy leads, snares, stabs, whatever...
the only one that i liked was the exciter of logic. but i just switsched to cubase, so i'm lost. i found some, but as subconsciousmind
mentioned, i am not satisfied with them at all...

i avoid exciters, i find them too brash and artificial and pop-music-sounding, if i want to tart up higher frequencies i prefer to use something else, usually the old fashioned grit of overdrive
just imho
however- you might want to look at izotope ozone. it is a mastering suite which has a multiband harmonic exciter module which you can use alone if you want... as far as exciters go, its pretty tolerable hehe
also the dynasone has an exciter (cant remember who makes that one)

Strange I`ve never heard of anyone adding exciter to synths. The only time I use the exciter is to vocals. And that is when I`m not using my tube microphone. I use it just to make the vocals sound warmer and more comfortable.
But that`s my opinion. |
