I know this is off-topic, but...
@New era scientist: I use the Behringer BCF-2000 and i really love it. If you use it in Mackie-emulation mode you don't have to use it for just the group tracks, but you can move through your cubase mixer in steps of 8 channels with a button on the BCF; a led above the channel on the BCF corresponds to the active track in cubase. It's almost too easy, ghe ghe ghe Highly recommended.
As for the example track: i think it works best if you see how some of your friends work, and use that as a startingpoint. It's not going to help if someone holds your hand while you move the mouse.

Hey Boobytrip! thanks for the advice, just what i needed..
im gonna invest in one right away..
btw do you use a midi interface, if so do you have any recommendations?
but maybe BCF-2000 has usb so i wont need to use the midi ports at all...
Cheers again, you really made it easier for me...

I ended up coming home with the Yamaha Aw1600
its perfect solution for me, its a Digital Porta which can be used as a DAW controller, so i get a two in one solution, pretty good price considering the price on thomann...
im gonna unpack it now and get into some serious manual reading and fiddling...
though i have it for test till tomorrow, that feels good, if i notice its not for me...

Wheeheee ! that looks like a pretty neat piece of gear and it's definitely a step up from the bcf-2000. By the way, does it have those kinky motorized faders (bzzt bzzzt) ?

Boobytrip - nope, no motorized faders, hehe..
yeah its pretty cool, though it will take sometime till i get my head around this one...
still the Bcf-2000 might be usefull aswell, ill notice later... but first things first, right now ill invest in some more mics... and study this machine...
and this machine put me down 1 048,57Euro...
hehehe.. it was instead of a Rme fireface.
