they both have pro and cons (the pro seems more muddy and not sure i like the pump) dunno if one is really better than the other not in the crappy headphone i m listening...yours seemms louder so it s not really a fair comparaison. who mastered?pro mastering is a big word , big part of psytrance is mastered by amateurs.(and some do it just great,it's not pejorative) |

my mastering is louder at about 1.5 db. the pro is about -10db rms. i think today's standarts are at least -9. i'm not sure realy who did it. dacru records sent it to mastering because it's gonna be released there. the pro sounds more compressed to me. i don't know much about mastering. i just did few basics things i know. maybe the pro is better on big speakers or something. i don't know...what i realy wanted to show here to the begginers that mastering doesn't do miraceles. i remember i thougt before that after mastering i will hear big improvement but after i did i realized it's not like that...

The official mastering was made by Silicon Sound http://www.discogs.com/artist/Silicon+Sound
The key to a good mastering track is a track that sounds good on every sound system. |

I think most people who have some experience and a pair of great monitors could get a proper mastering done that would work perfect on every party out there. Sure some have a better ear and a cleaner result, but i wouldn't pay 500-600€ for someone "pro" to master my album when i would never see that money for actually making the album itself. Then i reather do it myself and haveing it checked by trusted friends with other kinds of monitors. and voulá u saved couple of hundred €'s.
cheers!

Pro mastering is "fatter" and "nicer" at semi-high freqs imo.
And very nice thread btw! |

This. I am mixing down and mastering our next EP for Neurobiotic. The label said go ahead with the mastering anyway and the feedback from the mixes has been great.
Regarding the examples on here, the "amateur" master is louder so not much of a fair comparison...I do think the mids are more tamed in the pro master tho.
Peace out.
