IOSIS Art Party, Breaks and Freaks and Infinite Connections Present

~ Primal Matter ~

Physical Location ~ CHAC Showroom and the Lower Level ~ Seattle

Temporal Location ~ April 22nd 9:00 PM

Seattle, WA – On April 22nd, walk into the Capitol Hill Arts Center (CHAC) Showroom and experience the next level in performance art. With five suspensions throughout the night, realize the true beauty and grace of this art form. Starting center stage with the suspension of a Geisha, you’ll begin your musical journey with Electric Mayhem from Portland. Moving into a tag team DJ set by Osiris Indriya and Amanita, the mood is set for airbrush artists Sasha King, Eric Nez and Yvette Tourangeau to begin. Once Ticon from Sweden takes the musical controls, these artists will be inspired by “135 BPM of UNDULATING AND THROBBING DEPTH” to create new painting on human canvases hanging via suspensions. With this as the backdrop, we have the Orb suspension center stage. If suspension is a new art form for you, expect to expand your notion of what the human body is capable of.

If you find yourself over stimulated, take a walk through the chill space and down the stairs into the Lower Level, which will be brimming with circus freaks and broken beats. From acrobats to circus geeks, you’ll experience all the things they don’t allow in the big tent... eye lifts, bed of nails, tight rope unicycling and more. Sacrosanct starts the night off with sexy breaks. Moving through to Vancouver’s Taal Mala, you’ll dance surrounded by the carnival reverie. By the time Adam Ohana (SF) takes over, this sideshow spectacle will be in full force. Plan to stay until 4am because you won’t want to miss the psychedelic breaks of DJ Fractalien from Portland.

~ Ticon ((live&DJ)) (Digital Structures - Sweden) ~ Ticon ((LIVE & DJ)) (Digital Structures - Sweden) grooves come from Filip Mårdberg and Fredrik Gilenholt. The story of their musical involvement dates back to 1991 when they found mutual interest for underground dance music. Around 1995, the new moniker Tripticon was born. Then in 1997, through a local contact, they released an album on Stockholm based Tsunami records. After the release was a hard period for them musically as they were getting tired with Tripticon and there was no obvious path to take. It wasn’t until Malmoe based label Digital Structures contacted them in 1999 that things started to get clear. They went in for a studio session and out came the track ‘mona bone’, which today is a classic Ticon track but more important, they had found the path they were looking for. After successful releases like ‘ass-tronaut’, ‘monkey business’, ‘rattlesnake lollipop’, ‘lo mi hi’ and ‘input, output, kaput’ on lables like TIP World, Hadshot Haheizar, Transient rec, Dragonfly rec, Surround Sounds and of course Digital Structures, they earned a spot in the growing group of respected tranceproducers. Released in April 2001, their full length ‘rewind’ received rave reviews. In addition to Ticon there is a lot of other music made in the studio; with New Disco Science Alliance they try to bridge over to a clubbier style of tech house; with Qlap, which is a project with Son Kite, main idea is to fuse the two groups to get something new. Then there is also a downbeat project without a name so far (although 2 tracks have been released under the Ticon name) and at last a new experiment which in lack of other definition must be called a pop project with a songwriter and a vocalist. It's been a great journey from the first releases and landmark albums like "Rewind" and "Aero" to "Zero Six After" released in 2005.

~ Osiris Indriya vs. Amanita
With a special 2x4 mix of home spun loops, clicks, and tracks and baked with psychedelic and progressive cuts from around the globe.

Osiris Indriya (Iboga Records/IOSIS Art Party/Oracle Gatherings – SEA) is a legend of the West Coast Underground Dance scene. He has been featured with underground artists such as Brian, Brad, and Trevor of L.A. Moontribe, Manoj of Uplift in Portland, OR, trance goddess Phoenix Olivia in Vancouver B.C., and Lorin (bassnectar) from Santa Cruz/SF, CA. Osiris has also been featured along side recording artists Atmos, Human Blue (Spiral Trax, chill code - Sweden), Ganga Giri (Australia) and SunControlSpecies (Zenon, Iboga - Australia), as well as Antix, Beat Bizarre, and DJ Banel from Danish Progressive label Iboga Records where he is now an official label DJ. He is a weekly resident at Contour Night Club in Seattle for IMPULSE Thursdays. All this while playing at forest, desert, beach, and indoor gatherings, club nights, and festivals up and down the west coast, as well as internationally including the Double 6 in Kuta, Bali and Shambhala Music Fesival in Nelson, Canada. Driven to take Seattle to the next level, Osiris has been deep into creating several projects. He has teamed up with Infinite Connections to bring the best of Europe’s tribal progressive trance music and world class art to the Pacific Northwest in a series of events called IOSIS Art Parties. As co-founder of the Oracle Gatherings, he is bringing a new paradigm in a growing dance community by integrating with the Northwest’s mythical undercurrent. All this has helped inspire the release of his all original progressive and downtempo CD, "Reach Within". http://www.osirisindriya.com/

Amanita (IOSIS Art Party) AKA Brian Parker. From the rain soaked environment of the North West and with a deep love for Psychedelic Trance this local dj, promoter, and producer has played for over six years up and down the West coast with a who’s who list of international talent such as Mark Farina, Atmos, Talamasca, Human Blue, Oforia, Shakta, Penta, Atomic Pulse, Wizzy Noise, Sun Control Species and Ticon at a variety of festivals, concerts and events. While having a deep respect for his psychedelic roots Amanita tends to focus now on the more tribal side of psychedelic.

Electric Mayhem (Sidetrakkt - Pittsburgh/Portland) is the founder of Sidetrakkt Productions, Dan introduced psytrance to Pittsburgh through his dj sets and as an organizer of 28 events over a five-year period. In July 2004 Dan relocated to the northwest and after a year and a half hiatus has recently begun organizing events in Portland. Known for his diverse selection of music, ranging from atmospheric downtempo to funky tribal progressive to intense full-on psychedelia to uplifting melodic psytrance, and everything in between, his sets are carefully crafted to reflect and enhance both the time of night and the energy on the dancefloor. After playing at many east coast festivals and events, including the World Electronic Music Festival in Toronto, Omni Dance Festival in New York, Maataa Mandaara in West Virginia, the Gaian Mind monthly in Philadelphia, and countless other events, Dan has begun to make his mark in the northwest, most notably playing at the Phoenix Festival in July. This will be his first Seattle appearance. http://www.sidetrakkt.com

Triple Airbrush Suspension ~ UP^stairs will include three airbrush artists painting "human" canvases held up through suspensions.

DOWN stairs ~
******************************************************

~ Adam Ohana (Eyephunk - An-ten-nae.net - SF- )
For the past 13 years Adam Ohana has been an instrumental force in the west coast and international dance music circuit. From managing record labels like Blue Room and fuel records, to being part owner of eyephunk distribution, Adam Ohana has played an integral role in igniting the San Francisco trance scene. With his Eyephunk label and distribution company, djing and making his own music, Adam is the reason San Francisco's record stores stay stocked with fresh electronic beats and new people are being turned on to sounds from around the globe. As one of the first psychedelic trance djs in the Bay Area, known as Adam Ohm, he has now expanded his arsenal to include breakbeats, and djs under the name Adam Ohana, to distinguish these schizophrenic beats.

~ DJ Fractalien (the Obscure Project – PDX) was born in Costa Rica and raised in Miami, Mauricio started to DJ in Philadelphia in 1996 while in college. Now living in Portland, OR he has done a little bit of everything from DJing, playing tabla, owning a record store, scratching, performing live and programming his own music, both alone and in his electro-live duo, the Obscure Project. His music draws from a well of diverse sounds and influences include classical Indian, psy-trance, trip-hop, breaks, d&b, progressive, hip-hop and ambient. He has played with world class talent such as Tipper, the Disco Biscuits, Hallucinogen, Younger Brother, Eat Static, Infected Mushroom, Jim Hopkins of Electroliners, Shulman, Bluetech, Hive, and others. Currently he likes to weave together unique soundscapes composed of his own music blended with fitting samples and selected tracks from other artists topped with a touch of live scratching. http://www.fractalien.com

~ Taal Mala (SUB OSC, Dead By Dawn Soundsystem - East Vancouver, BC) Killing sound since '97, Taal Mala is tearing up the dancefloors and doin' it to ya in the earhole with warbling sub frequencies that have been known to rupture an internal organ or two. His music implicates a mashup of tweaky breakbeats with throbbing basslines, glitched out ragga vibes, turntablism, and complex riddim changes that will warp your perception of dancefloor music. Releases on his label SUB OSC (co-founded with Maximus) to come in '06

Sacrosanct (Seelie Court - Seattle) Guided by locals such as Osiris Indriya, Lara S., Aaron Hoyle, WaaterMark, & Michael Manahan, Sacrosanct has developed his own distinct flavor of techy, atmospheric down to midtempo perfection. Inspired deeply into his groove by Seelie Court way back when, this illbient sleep/eat/breather saw connections form that paved the road (a very long, & thorough one) to this performance...One that will have you beach party sand slide dancing to utopian-grade secrets mimicking the breeze. A lot of patience comes with being a Seattle ? (whatever we are), and sustaining what has been built by our own hands can only be done by the ones who are still getting it done, & the ones whom are bless-ed enough to become a part of it. The dawn of a new era is approaching. It is about time that some good folks stood up, and put on their creation caps. It is time...Purple Party People, your tech support has arrived...

DOWN stairs will include Pure Cirkus

Pure Cirkus started out as a Seattle based piercing/ suspension group called P.U.R.E. (people undergoing real experiences). Over the course of 3 years the group grew larger and larger as it began to perform shows both public and private, pulling together many talented performers who strived to push the limits of the human mind and body in an ancient art form that dates back to the oldest mummy found to date until it finally evolved into what is now PURE CIRKUS. As P.U.R.E entered into its 3rd year performing all over Seattle it spawned its own fire troupe, run by Xavier Frost and Jennifer Morgensen. Soon enough it began to take on all forms of entertainers such as jugglers, clowns and other creeds of artists that simply wanted to place that they could entertain and grow as a performer. So began Pure Cirkus. The group that began as a private get together of friends to create an inspiring personal experience born out of our primordial society has transformed into Pure Cirkus. A blend of clowns, fire, suspension/piercing, dancers, acrobats, musicians and artists from all over that have come together to build what we hope will be a long lasting cirkus that will come to entertain people for generations. www.purecirkus.com/

Primal Matter was one of the most exciting nights of my life. It's taken me two days to recover, but it was worth every minute. There are SO many people to thank for this incredible event that I'm not really sure where to start...

...Let me start by thanking everyone that came. Suspensions, Progressive trance, Fatty breaks, Cirkus freaks... this was not your average party... IOSIS Art Party and Breaks & Freaks... You came, you saw and you DANCED!!! Thank you Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and every other town you came from!

Xavier - From the moment you told me you wanted to see people airbrushed while they were suspended, I knew we had to do it. Thank you for sharing your vision with me and working so hard to make it a reality. You are the hardest working carnie I know!

Osiris - My partner in crime... the flyer was a work of art. Through art, you bring life to paper... Music, graphics, inspiration and patience... <I bow low>.

Jesiah - With everything going on, you were there... every step of the way. Planning meetings, organizing the sound system, power issues... Your love for your work shines through. You have my respect and admiration... now if we could only get you there a few hours earlier.

Brian - Promoting, hashing out details, running around getting things done... thank you for being a part of it all.

Jesse - From the moment I called, you were there. There was no task to big or to small... you gave selflessly and for that I am most thankful.

Matthew and CHAC - I could probably write a book about everything you did to make this a success. I'll summerize it by saying thank you for giving us a place to call home. CHAC exists because you make it a place where dreams come true.

Jen - This was your IOSIS Art Party in many ways... the suspensions were beautiful works of art!

Jeff - You couldn't even be there and still your light shone!!! The lighting upstairs was perfect.

Scott - Visual WOW! I'm speechless...

Shapey and Lynne - Blacklights, fabric and undying support. You mean so much to me and what we do. I only hope to be able to repay you for everything you do.

David - We weren't even expecting art and suddenly you called and there it was. It was perfect. Beautiful and in all the right places.

PURE Cirkus - BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE WHOLE CIRKUS!!!! Way to much to write in an itty bitty space... I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!

Joe and Ronda - The chill room was truely a place for escape. Thank you for working around all the problems. Every time I walked in there, people were mesmerized by the music and decor.

Fremont Arts Council - Outstanding volunteers... Thank you for supporting all art forms... Seattle needs you!

Ticon - Not only did you give us the most amazing set (they said this was the best party they've played at in N. America), your whole attitude was fantastic. Can't wait to have you back!

Electric Mayhem, Sacrosanct, Tal Maal, Adam Ohana, Mentats, phowa, Carlos, Shiftb, Fractalien - THESE MUSICIANS ROCK!!!!! I can't gush enough about the lineup. THANK YOU!

Eric, Yvette, Sasha - DID YOU SEE THAT AIRBRUSHING?!?! Created right before your eyes with canvases that were swinging around... in total awe...

Psyboba - You can't underestimate how much we appreciate all you do to help promote these events.

Merch Table Volunteers (Jen, Kevin, Tom, Brandee) - Yea! Yea! Yea! You were great!!!!

If I missed anyone... you are not forgotten. I have a huge list of people that will get great big hugs the next time I see them.

Pictures coming soon - http://www.infiniteconnections.org and http://iosis.tribe.net
