I dislike snare rolls with a passion. Nothing psychedelic about them and just ruins the drive for me....kick rolls as well...that shit was cool 15 years ago and its suits crappy jokes.
Actually it does connect any "serious" trance tune with bad humor.
That is all.

Anyhow you need teh golden rAyZgate made from the people that made VB-1. Settings for perfect snare roll usage are a mystical myth, that only Gill and the Divine Dozen, know.

Peace out.

Lol DH you seem to hate every classic element used in psytrance... what do you like to create tension then?

Snare rolls are not a classic psytrance element. They've been done to death in non psychedelic trance/club/hard house *cringe* long before they were in trance tunes.

I'll just so some explaining to avoid sounding like a cunt everytime someone mentions sounds I despise.
I am very passionate about music... its like the reason I exist. I understand other feel the same way too and in their definition of music they are passionate about, these sound I despise, are in. Hence my behaviour.
This does not mean that people should not try to recreate the done to death sounds in trance, for practice or simply because they like them (some people do have bad taste in music ), or should they listen to my "veteran mumbling".
But snare/kick rolls, that cheesy detuned saw sound used in cheesy "hi-tek" (lol) night time full on, FM/golden rays, VB-1 basslines, Duvdev's voice and walls of mad glitch, hailed as genius from the darkpsy crew, are things that need to be condemned to Davy Jone's locker, for ever.

That is all.

Peace out.

aciduss, I believe you forgot to turn your sarcasm detector on today oh and;

I enjoy reading vets bitching about the current incarnation of psytrance. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy because it means that I am not insane and that other people share my opinion            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

I don't really think using a snare roll would define one's music taste as bad, or disliking it as good.

It is just a tool as reverse cymbals, white noise, delayed sounds and so... some become popular because they work in a given situation.

Although I do understand the "please do something new" attitude I just think you take it a little to far, maybe because of your passion for music i think but hey, you can actually end up hating trance because it uses the same used to death 4/4 kick pattern and bass in between, or hate a basic percussion set because it uses the same used to death snare and open hat, why don't people invent new sounds to use instead of snares and hihats eh?... i mean those are just tools, musical conventions that make the production of some parts easier and functional...

can you really judge that hard a producer by his likings of what you consider to be cheese?

Not every production has to be a unique completely creative brand new sound with no connection to previous works or influences or popular musical / sound design techniques, in fact, although I like your music very much, I don't find it particularly innovative and rule breaking.

Just my 2cent, peace.

I'm not judging producers on the basis of what they like. I simply put the next tune on, different CD, soundcloud clip...etc.
Hearing people use these sounds actually helps me feel better about the music from an outsider's point of view, as much as I can view my music as an outsider, as I am strongly bound to it, as it is who I am but transfused in waveforms.
And at the end of the day, I am not whose opinion matters on the music "x" producer makes. It is only "x" producer's opinion that matters on his/her own music.

I am not trying to innovate or break any rules. I just sit in my studio playing notes and program synths to my heart's content, without trying to break new ground.
I am simply bringing back the vibe I felt in parties years ago, in my studio today.

The only person I aim to please, is me.
It sounds selfish and it is to be honest.

I also release music. But I do not release music because I think it is something special for other people, or believe it is my bollocking duty to save the trance scene, or because I want to be better than the next guy who also releases music, nor do I make any money out of it. I give my music away for free.

The reason I release music is because I like seeing parts of the world, I would not otherwise have seen.

Peace out.

disillusioned? Don't think you're using the right word for what you are trying to express.

Disillusioned: "having lost one's ideals, illusions, or false ideas about someone or something; disenchanted"

I am not disillusioned. I simply share the opinions of a lot of 'vets' on this forum that a large portion of the psytrance being released today is boring, un-innovative soulless shit. At the same time I have an intense passion for good psy, and there is some worthwhile stuff being released.

Also, just because someone's first trance release was in 2009 does not mean that they haven't been around for quite some time. That poster that you are deriding has been making music for, if memory serves, around 15 years and has extensive experience.

You have failed at insulting either of us in a way that makes sense - please try again.
