Press Release from Iboga Records:
"This latest compilation from Iboga Records is an impressive collection of largely new and unreleased tracks from an international group of artists who have defined, not only a genre but an era in electronic music – a who’s who of the movers and shakers. These artists are the foundations and land markers who have both created the sound and continued it’s evolution through the consistent quality and creativity of their music – the ones who opened up the genre and who are continuing to push the boundaries that define it’s sound. Everlasting is 2 hours of immaculately produced and sonically stimulating deep moody electro.
Iboga Records is a well-established and ambitious label that has played a consistent and key role in the Progressive Trance, House, Techno and chill-out zones of the electronic music scene since it was founded 15 years ago. Always championing quality where they find it the ‘Electro-Scandahooligans’ at Iboga aim, through this compilation, to set a milestone in the extensive landscape of electronic music; to present an original and timeless collection of tracks from some of the most talented artists the scene has to offer.
To give form and flavor to this uncompromising plan they enlisted the formidable skills and musical discernment of sonic freethinker Gaudi. As an artist who crosses many genres in both his performance and production work he is perfectly placed amid a broad spectrum of musical connections and as such has pulled together not only a diverse but also heavyweight group of artists. With this compilation Gaudi has once again proved his credentials as a skilled and percipient man of music and has, most importantly, properly addressed the two major keystones of a successful compilation without compromising one or the other – the names and the vision of the listening experience.
Everlasting is not a roller coaster of a compilation that takes you all over the place in its quest to cover all bases, but an expertly crafted showcase of mid tempo electronic music at it’s best and it plays like an album rather than a comp … you might think that getting so many ‘heavyweights’ together in one place might not necessarily make for a coherent collection – as by their individual natures they are used to standing out and pulling their own line with their music… however, the selection and mix is artful and common threads in the tracks have fused seamlessly to make a double CD worthy of note – not just a list of quality artists but an album that emerges to be greater than the sum of it’s parts and which delivers to the listener a smooth, deep and cohesive sonic experience.
Collectively the influence of the artists in this compilation have spanned the last 40 years of electronic music and it is nothing if not testament to their skills that they are still leading the field! The Orb who forever changed the face of electronic dance music and System 7, pioneers of early experimental electronica, both instrumental in the birth of electronic chill out, sit alongside Gaudi the musical chameleon – who’s been kicking down the genre walls for the last 30 years. Psychedelic pioneers Eat static and Shpongle who have grown a cult following around their distinctive brands of psychedelic journeying feature well with fellow compatriot Tripswitch – king of the well sculpted psychedelic smooth-groove. In collaboration with Shpongle is The Alan Parson’s Project – bringing long established and highly respected production skills to the table.
The inclusion of Dub legend and the maverick in the pack Mad Professor adds an elegantly placed other dimension to the collection as well as an important nod of respect to the genre of Dub to which Electro-chill owes so much. Tipper, a man responsible for expanding sound with his trademark exquisite production and emotive sonic mastery and Pete Namlook – highly acclaimed and ever prolific ambient producer feature with Lamb who’s loyal and almost cult following has seen them weather the storms over the last 15 years in the evolution of their innovative and beguiling sound. One of New Zealands most notable musical exports over the last decade or so Pitch Black add their distinctive dubbed out bass vibes to the pot along with Athenian bass-man and protagonist of all things dub and electro Vlastur. Screen (a side project of the Orb’s Alex Paterson, Gaudi & veteran UK ‘scenester’ Chester) stamp their mark with their well honed yet reassuringly edgy sound and fly the flag for London alongside enigmatic production duo and relentless frequency foragers Vacuum Science and Capes – with his deftly delivered spacious raga infused dubstep.
An always innovative and distinctively atmospheric Scandinavian sound is extremely well represented in the hands of Denmark’s Lulu Rouge who have been bringing quality to the party for the last 15 years or so, Trentemøller – the man with a sonic vision and a particular skill in delivering it and Sweden’s Krusseldorf – an accomplished and prolific artist who’s incredibly diverse works range from industrial experimental ambient to classical and who’s resulting composition skills are well honed and evident. From the south of Italy to London and back again was the journey that polished the beautiful production skills heard from Funsui (the new project from Paolo Polcari) and leaves us with no question as to why his is known as a king of the cinematic sound. Variant Field is a collaborative project between Amani (of Desert Dwellers) and Alex DeYoung and the opening act on this epic journey; their track creates a deep and minimalist field from which the journey unfolds, their stripped down and spaciously arranged elements of glitch-hop and dub-step are an engaging evolution of the west coast US sound and a fine portal from which to begin this trip. Gaudi has also added to the compilation a special extra depth dimension of his own in the form of two of his new remixes (done especially for the comp) of two great heavyweights of electronica – The Orb and Trentemøller – neither need introduction and the impressive tracks also speak for themselves! It is a long and impressive list but Everlasting is much much more than that ..it is an inspiring, engaging and first-rate listen.
Gaudi and Iboga have raised the benchmark in electronic music compilation with this album.. each track is, in it’s own flavour, a study in multi-dimensional sound and a voyage in itself – If these artists are ‘the dons’ of their field, then the evidence of titles well earned is right here in this album. It is easy to get lost in each and every track of this compilation so be prepared … it may take a while to return from listening to the whole thing

I just hope there's an unmixed version as well. The mix of styles etc does look exciting.

Okay, so the length of the mix is 1hr 50mins.
I think I quickly calculated the length of the individual tracks to be 1hr 24mins. So they don't seem to be mixed, which is good.
Anyone want to confirm that?

yeah agreed!
after getting Greenosophy, i didn't think there would be another compilation album to top it this year but for me Everlasting has done just that.
been on constant rotation (do mp3's rotate?) for me since getting it.
Tripswitch's tracks on this and Greenosophy are the stand-out tracks for me. He seems more active these days. Hope that's a sign of a new album in the making

Okay guys, first thing first,u wana discuss gays, make sure ur account is fake and dnt get traced.Gays control everything,religion,govt.,cops,corporates,illuminati.Psy scene especially.Yes it was these ppl tht crucified jesus. They also made holocaust.they also made many innocent lives n ppl suffer in psy scene for ages.the clean ppl went underground,n only very few good ppl left as ther r imp. innocent children to protect.Gays r results of fear.also sin.notice they r the rich ppl, spoilt ppl, stubbourn, violent,n greedy.they also hate women, who r connected to the planet n closest link to God.it has always been observed, tht gay will always get carried away n force try to force their point of view, whch is truly satanic.remember if u r not gay or commited original sin, then u hav believed the words of jesus as he was trying to warn us about this or face consequences and ur soul will go to hell.doing lsd does nt lead ur soul to hell, but wht u do after it will decide ur fate.but poor guy as i guess he was greatly outnumbered n surrounded but not this time.he said he will come in many this time..so beware of psy scene...u could loose ur soul,im serious.they r already in hell and remember, the kingdom of heaven belongs to the children n no evil can come near them.if u hav eyes n ears, spread the good news, for satans days r truly ended. |
