Events on landmarks?

I was wondering if there have ever been events or festivals in sight of or at sites of the mesoamerican temples and pyramids? Would there ever be an event at Tikal or Tehuticuakan(forgive my spelling)?
I hope I'm not offending anyone I'm really curious... |

There have been parties near the only Mayan-temple on a beach in Tulum (Yucatan-Mexico) but as far as I know only on certain distance from it 'cause it's a touristic and sacred place and not allowed to party.....but the parties get close enough to see it though and I can highly recommend you to go visit the place someday.....I've been freakin' my damn balls off partying & playing on the beaches there !
