Its great. I had an Eventide Eclipse in my studio for a year and a half. Great for crazy effects but also the reverbs where the best Ive ever heard.

I was making tunes with this geezer that had lots of nice outboard gear, yet did not really know how to use Logic (or his gear for that matter). So he moved all his studio gear to my studio (Nord Lead 1, Virus B, Waldorf Pulse, Eventide Eclipse, Lexicon MPX-1...etc) in order to finally use them in tunes.
We had the top gear, still, our trance tunes sounded shite
But I did use them a lot in the breakbeat tunes I was releasing back in that day and them tunes sounded a lot better.

I have a H3000 D/SX and use it a lot. In Japan on the used market $1000 USD is roughly average, although it can be found cheaper sometimes (I got mine massively cheap, but the company selling it thought it was broken which was why it was only $300). The newer machines will be easier to use with computers and I suspect a lot of the Posford type stretchy sounds you want are also easier on the new ones, but the 3000 can do a lot. The choruses, flangers and phasers alone make the unit worthwhile and for those I tend to use that unit over anything else I want. The reverbs are nice as well, despite the age and non-digital natural of the signal. Time synching delays and such can be a bit difficult and programing the thing can be a bit of a beast at times. Eventide's original claim to fame was time based effects so you can do a lot of strange things with it, although it does have a fairly steep learning curve.
