hello,
i am choosing now between Event TR8, TR6 and TR5. dunno which one buy. cos i am on the budget i will prolly go for TR5 as they are the cheapest from TR series. but i am still considering the TR6 and TR8. the monitors are all the same tho the only difference between them is power and freq. response (and of course how big they are)...
TR8: 38Hz - 20kHz; 100W
TR6: 45Hz - 20kHz; 80W
TR5: 53Hz - 19kHz; 80W
...as i dont have any experience with monitors i dunno what will make the difference in sound and so on if i have TR8 which can go down to 38Hz and TR5 that go to 53Hz. there is only 18Hz (from 38Hz to 53
Hz) difference between those two... does that matter at all or when i buy TR5 it can be "tuned" further so it will have wider freq. response?

I dont think you can tune them lower, actually those 18hz can be very vital when tuning low basses.
you cant tune them lower but you can buy an addtional subwoofer, though the best is to buy a 2.1 system which is designed to work good and can be calibrated with test-tones and a SPL meter.
i my self own a 2.1 system, Blue Sky mediadesk and im very happy, i recently bought a SPL meter and am about to calibrate the system.
so if you want to know more about whats going on in the low frequenices i would suggest a 2.1 system...
its well worth the money in my opinion...
and it sounds like you are interested in how low the speakers can go, most of us are
But i think the Event TR line would do you good aswell, as long as you have the opertunity to play your tracks in a big system to hear how they "really" sound...
Good luck!

yea, from stuff i read around the net on monitors i gathered that the lower frequencies affect basses. but i still kinda look on that from "position" of theory...
i guess my question is if i can still make good sounding fat sub-basses with monitors that go only to 52Hz.

hermit: very bluntly: no... In fact, it's almost impossible to mix subbass, period... maybe if u have incredible studio monitors AND a room that has no bass-reflection problems (even most pro studio's still have some bass-reflection, but minimised to a bearable point)... And even then u can only mix it quite roughly...
at least, that's what people said to me when i was asking how i could better produce the sub-end of my DnB songs. |

i have tr8s and i would stay away from them.
they have decent bass response but overal they sound really bad.
im going to sell mine and get a used pair of mackie hr624, what i should have done to start with. |
