Hello all,
I've been banging my head against tweaking the low-end of my mixes now for a couple of weeks.
One article online read that for subbass frequencies (<50Hz), most nearfield home studio monitors won't give an accurate picture. It started me wondering if half my frustration with getting a good subbass mix is that my monitors (Event TR8s) simply are not giving me a clear picture of what's going on.
Is anyone out there mixing with TR8s and having good success with their subs? Everytime I think I've 'got it', I burn the track to a CD and proceed to punish my car system (the ultimate test) with bass that's mixed poorly.
peace,
-alex |

i got the tr8s and the lows take a lot of experimentation, try other systems besides your car, i would trust the subass to a sub though, i dont think they go a s low as advertised .

Got the TR8 as well and agree with leon, you need to get use to their lows-
try hear some good mastered tunes on them so you can know what kind of lows you need to achieve

So with practice I should be able to use them.
Cool, thanks!
I will make a point to study some well mastered tracks. |

Event monitors have alot of lows for you to make good low mix. Though Input and Leon are right you need to get used for any kind of monitor even low mix one.
Any 8' monitor can be enough for sub mix, frequencies are only reduced at sub region but not cut at all.
