Out of the ones I've had and are budget (except the Doepfer A-107)
Doepfer A-107 Morphing VCF
Doepfer A-124 Wasp VCF
Doepfer A-105 SSM2044
Doepfer A-120 Transistor ladder
Doepfer A-121 MMF
The new A-106 that has replaced the A-121 is brilliant as well.

well i got the a-106-5 SEM and it is VERY noisy when open all the way, at pretty much unacceptable levels. i looked around the net and it seems this is the way this module behaves.
from your experience the other doepfer ones are quiet?

I don't remember it being very noisy. Maybe there is a VCA issue? Anyhow, I only used it for bass, so I never boosted the mids of top end to see if there was an apparent issue.
The A-124 is noisy as well.

How close is the the filter to your PSU? It could be picking up noise from there. If it's close, try moving it to another location in your case. It could be also be another module in your case that is creating the noise and the A-106-5 might just be making it audible.
My favorite filters are:
Tiptop Z2040. Not only is it a nice sound filter but it's also the best kick drum in Euro.
Toppobrillo Multifilter. It replaced the A-121 in my rack which had volume issues.
The Harvestman Polivoks. RAW and dirty.
I want to try the Synthesis Technology E440 and I would like to spend some more time with the Make Noise MMG.

PSU can be a cause of noise and sometimes modules can bleed into others. I had a Livewire AFG that was horrible. It would bleed into everything that sat on the same rail. It took some juggling to find the correct configuration of modules that would ignore the bleed. The right configuration ended up being more Livewire. Go figure.
I've had a few others that have done similar things but once I moved a few things around, it disappeared. The A-121 was sold to me super cheap because it would pick up radio frequencies. I moved it around enough that I was able to find the sweet spot in the case and it eventually stopped.

Do you have a lot of digital modules in the case? Could you be possibly overloading the PSU? If you are getting close to the max that the PSU can handle, modules will start to act less than optimal.
It very likely could be that module too. Eurorack can be a bit fiddly.
