Etic - "Zooming Out" (Trancelucent Productions)
Release Date: 3/2007

By nature, dance music produces more memorable singles or tracks than truly great albums. But once every so often an album is released that is a collection of great songs, but more importantly, a collection of songs which work perfectly together as a whole. A piece of art in a larger sense, meant to be heard start to finish, each track placed just so, pulling the listener through different moods and intensity levels thus creating a cohesive and conceptualized musical journey... the ultimate listening experience. That is the most stunning quality of the new album, “Zooming Out,” by Israeli producer, Etic.

Split in two parts, “Zooming In” and “Zooming Out,” the album sets off by easing into some seriously smooth and laid back Progressive Psy Trance – the kind of stuff you beg to hear on a blissed out late morning dance floor during festival season. The intensity gradually builds over the first few tracks finally coiling up and springing loose with a gorgeous synth melody on “Dance Proof.” The energy holds over the next track and then calms back down with the song, “Outro,” preparing the listener for the next phase of the record.

The last 5 tracks wind the album down with some interesting experimental mid and down-tempo tracks that definitely do not fit the typical chill-out mold. More organic sounds, such as guitar and piano, make their way into the mix here and clash (in a good way) with the electro rhythms and slow breakbeats. The album comes to an end with a subtle yet soaring full female vocal track, finally completing the musical journey… zooming the listener out.

Though minimal in approach, never using many instrumental parts, all the songs exhibit a depth of sound not achieved by many of today’s producers. Each sound has a purpose and is used to fullest extent to create the spacious and melodic atmospheres that define Etic’s sound.

If you love good Trance music, and yes, truly great albums, then don’t miss “Zooming Out” by Etic.

Favorite tracks:
“X-Press”
“Dance Proof”
“Outro”

Nice! Glad people agree with the review. This is definitely one of my favorite albums of the year so far... in terms of it being an album I can listen to start to finish.

Cheers all! Thanks for the replies.

"Zooming Out" is a fine album with special concept.
If I'm compare between this album and the last one (Feedback), so "Zooming Out" is more softer & gentle and has it's own magic inside.
But still "Feeback" is my favorite one from Etic's three albums.

Keep the good work Itay.

indeed this doesn't top feedback but feedback was imo one of the best releases of 2005,
this is very good also,
I'm glad they didn't create faster music but kept that nice progressive touch,
very subtle

good work           http://www.last.fm/user/LastFmKoen
