With the scenario you've decribed, I wouldn't use any of it!
Quote: "there is one wounded.... hit him" - quite disgusting!

Yeah it is pretty disgusting considering they didn't look like they were armed. These guys had no emotion (the shooters), you can see with the infrared one guys body or what is left of it splayed across the ground and neither of them said a thing. Completly mechanical not even a "fucking hell did you see that", I swear when the guy says "range auto" he sounds like a robot.
I was thinking of a track called "your tax $s at work". I guess on the dance floor no one is going to know what the clip is from and there will be no negative association except with.... actually forget that, there will be negative association if the guy says "there is one wounded.... hit him". But then again what is wrong with negativity? I mean you have to draw the line somewhere and once you know what is negative, positive also reveals itself.
Oh no! This thread is getting all Zen on me. |

i always believe that "only if there is a dark side, does the other side really shine"!
well, GMS has made "Star Wars" which is all about the dark side and its nonetheless a gr8 track. |

I don't mind 'dark-spoken' samples in a track. I've used samples like that myself - but I couldn't use a sample like eMpTy described, as I would know where it came from & what casualties that followed...

there are loads and loads of examples of using negative samples in tunes...
e.g. Tim Schuldt's old remix of Evil Playground which I always used to think was amazing.... not negative sample in words, but same idea for sure. More recently you have a bunch of skazi tunes.... not my cup of tea but very popular.
Hmmm I reckon that it is the responsibility of the DJ and the LSD user to ensure they dont have a bad trip, not the music producer.... just my opinion. They would only have cause for complaint if they took acid at a party called 'Fluffy Bunny Land' and this tune was played with the horror sample.... in the end the DJ should judge the situation.
On the other hand it isn't to my taste at all... I think it is a bit immature. Of course no more immature than samples about space aliens.....
Also it is distasteful : not because it is negative, but because it is from real life.

without the visuals and guaranteed focus on them it's hard not to lose meaning. if you tell a story with the track, tell it sparingly. |
