Hello folks,
Regarding to audio effect plugins like saturation, modulation, compressor, EQ and so on, what are the main ones I should have in my vst list and how use them properly ?
It may sounds odd but what I am looking after is the ESSENTIAL only.
For instance saturation audio effect don't have within Cubase bundle, (I am Cubase user). Should I download it from somewhere or just ignore it? Would be it useful for bassline's processing? What are the main guideline for use them correctly?
What ESSENTIAL audio effects I must have to create a full-on trance?

Essential is your DAW, you have already everything you need to make any kind of music, everything else is based on your needs, if you don't know what you need more, than you don't need anything more yet, don't listen stories about plugins and stuff, if you feel like you are missing something, than find what are you missing, until than stick with what you have and learn that for starters.

Nice touch Xsze.
I just get confused sometimes as I watching videos and I see people doing things in different way than I do. It drive me insane as I dont manage to reach the same sort of sounds as them.
I gave up download new plugins as it just distract me from productions. I use the one within my DAW and sometimes I think I may need more. Hope I am wrong though.
So in the case let me say I manage to sintesis the right bassline I Eq it and then what else should I I use to better polish it?
On drums I normally EQ every single hit individually and then I send them all to bus with some compressor and reverb. is that right?
Claps I normaly add some reverb + delays.
You see...some essential guidelines is necessary but I want make sure I am doing it right.

It is impossible to say what you need and what you need to do. Many sounds can be made in different ways. Some people use nothing on their bassline, some people have 6 compressors, 3 equalizers and 8 distortions.. You need to experiment and with time you ll find your way.
The essentials are within your DAW but many nice plugins can also be found outside your DAW. Don't stock up on software. Learn what you have.
May the force be with you!

Try to make your bass work from source, little EQ-ing and compression if you feel that will do anything, than think about sound and what you think the sound needs, if you are not that experienced with the tools in your disposal and their usage, just experiment, that's the way of learning, trial&error, just don't obsess about perfect k&b combos, that's trivial thing in the end of the day, you will return in no time and start asking questions why you are stuck, questions about music in general, learn how to compose music, maintain interest, progression, focus on content rather on polishing and sound design, that's the core of it, music, play instrument, attend classes, learn techniques, terms, you will benefit more of it than having fat bass and poor content.

Perfectly said.
What I would add is learn what the effects actually does to the audio signal, and you'll realize you don't need that many different stuff.. typically you can do just about everything with your DAW and bundled instruments / effects.

add the soundcloud link without the s in https.
If you have sylenth you don't need twin. Fab Q is very nice indeed. But Cubase has an eq so strictly speaking you don't need it. quadrafuzz is nice but not irreplacable. analyzer is free so get it.

well music is a journey and yeah everybody has there own way of making music ! thats good and making allot of mistakes is even better !
then you will expericence a time that its gonna be easier and you got the flow ! practice eq, fx tweek some synths and try to find your way ! learn to use a fabfilter saturn or other saturation plugins and play with them ! so you can learn to listening how it sounds ! to much tutorials makes it confusing , and we all get in the beginning frustrated ,see it as a spiritual journey , practice, enjoy , and believe in your music your making ! some producers did a few years to master the skills ! give your self the time and space to grow ! first you put the seeds in the ground and patients is the key to let the music tree grow and strong ! that makes a long time succes thing ! good luck ! and i meet you one day somewere playing your gigs ! good luck brother
