lol! Yeah.. you got his phone number.......

I was talkin to a buddy here on isra and we thought it would be so nice if more big acts did spend there time here on the equipment and music creation section.

So we have more serious contents and less beginner stuff. Beginner stuff and simple technical info have been answer thousands of time. but we still have the same thread title.

On gear slutz there are many different section about gear. if we had different section about music creation, this would probably attract bigger names. why a guy like domestic would spend more time than he already has by browsing through boring threads.

In my case I really wish to see more thread on sound designing where more experienced people would want to share their knowledge.

So here it is: people of this section lets vote for news sub sections !

yes this might be nice.. it could be a section like just signed artist could post.. and normal users would be allowed just to access the section, but not to post. One section like this, inside the music and equipment criation would be great i suppose!           www.myspace.com/beehivelive

oh cmon...you ppl are acting like no one here helped...ok, we dont have eskimo walking around on his panties answering everyones question, but we do have lots of other experienced folks, who do try to solve most of the the problems we throw at them...

they gave us a hand, dont start expecting the whole arm now!!

plus dividing the forum too much tends to lower the flow a bit....human is a easily bored creatured, better have all the shiznit posted on one category, so less clicking around switching forums, and more questions beeing answered!

btw...WHATS the point of having a section only artists can post.....artists usually dont have noob questions to ask...we need the noobs to actually ASK what he needs to know...the artists cant guess it!!!!

my coffee and toast 2 cents....cya`ll

now comming back to the topic...
immagine if eskimo really did answer your question and gave you all the synth instructions to do the exact same sound....you would prolly write on a paper, or save a preset, name it something like "eskimoz popcornz leet lead" and throw it somewhere in your HD. But if you opened your synth...and spent like 1 week (ok, more like 1 month) you would eventually get close to the sound you wanted....and end up actually learning how to properly turn the knobz on the synth to make sounds you aim for, and on the way you would prolly come by some crazy noises yourself....now hows that for self teaching?

this is a bloody art for christ sake, not exact science like maths where you always need to end up with the exact result to be sucessful, go out there boy!!! give it your best shot!!! you can do it!!

and WHY THE FUCK does the cursor always jumps like crazy when im trying to write...this f*cking laptop sometimes look more stoned then i do...

@ brasirc:

That's a good post man. You hit the mark with that - that's what experienced sound designers will tell you: they learn by doing, and doing,...and so on.

You made me laugh with that cursor stuff.           ELECTRON EYES / MARK-EVAN (NOR. CAL)

very touching, guess ill wait(patience) try(persistence) and hope.. i make tunes like u-rekcon ,cosmic tone, bizzare contact....etc etc

my point is, anyone new or enthusiastic about producing will need a lil help, a few tips..come on.. big artists makin super riffs or sounds, think about it..smart/confident/innovative! and it doesnt matter much if someone wanna copy their "preset" after its like heard by around zillion people..coz he s the pioneer..but i feel..who ever s inquisitive (amature producer).. is basically trying to do somethin coz he s a fan..or somethin..

well, about the pen and paper, "saving preset" crap.. can u actually differentiate how may people on isra (at least 8 outta 10) maybe are trying or have tried to get a sound/lead/riff which they fancy?

peace

ps:i feel SMART artists who make crazy trademark sounds usually dont bother about who s copied them or whatever, probaby are happy to share the ideas..COZ THEY ALREADY HAVE DONE IT BEFORE... INSECURITY?? I DONT THINK SO

look around...the material is already all around you, this forum, kvr forum, whichever other forum about production...all you have to do is read it...

all i mean is...is easier to ask for the fish then to get the FREE rod which is already there for you and try some fishing yourself, you migh end up with fish to eat for a whole week, instead of winning one and starving later (dependable)

plus i never brought insecurity in the topic, and please forgive me if i ever said it was wrong for people to give advise to others(which i didnt...), actually if i was an artist and someone put a sound i made to good use, ill feel all cozy inside and have my confidence sky high, unless hes stealing my money...then ill go after him and rip his head off...

and btw...yes, if you keep trying (practice), have pacience(as in...dont give up) and hope(keep dreaming) you can make tunes even like Mozart and Bach...or you think bizzare contact is the best you can do?

This is not what I had in mind. First off there are many signed artist that do not even come close to the production of some unsigned artists. The idea was just to seperate topics not people. If i get bored seeing all thess topics that are not always very interesting I can't imagine how a skilled artist would feel.

Good for you. I just don't feel I'm learning much from this forum any longer and wish to have more evolved thread with really good producers. we had a few thread like that but not enough. We could have more. its in the interest of everybody here.

Actually this is where I disagree.

Electronic music production like most music follows rules and good production is very much like math and exact science, I'm sorry but this is my take on things; I've never heard of artistic mastering, just good mastering.

Production tips and pointers for how to create sounds is IMO a very good thing since it encourages incremental growth as artists and a better understanding of how things really work. Let's be honest, many REAL artists will take an idea and change it around a bit once they understand the underlying concepts, at least every artist I know does not aspire to sound like someone else. I personally want to concentrate more on the music, melody lines, creating tension, harmony and counterpoint, rather than understanding signal theory in order to get some otherworldly sound that sounds cool. I personally am against presets only because uniqueness is important for me but I don't want to spend a week either twiddling my G2 just to get a 20 second swoosh to sound right... I'm not a sound engineer so that's how long it will take me without help.

For me good production is a lot like writing code (my profession): No one spends time anymore rewriting basic libs from scratch, rather they understand how they work (school) and use that as a starting point. I don't see why electronic music production can be any different.

"If I have seen further it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants."

- Newton, with reference to his dependency on Galileo’s and Kepler’s work in physics and astronomy.           I don't use ideas. Every time I have an idea it's too limiting, and usually turns out to be a disappointment. But I haven't run out of curiosity. -RR
