Eh. Copying a pro's sound is a good way to learn things - especially in a genre as conformistic as foolon psy.

v station seems to be the best 4 me, has loads of bottom end 2 much in fact, that with a good few EQ cuts mainly around 125 and agen 250hz and bobs a jobbun.the eq cuts keep it clean. |

Sartre once said: "Hell is other people"
What do you think ?
|
|
I didn't read Sartre 'cause so far I've been unable to find a translation to my mother language. But the statement is pretty clear and true. It can be understood trough Jungian psychology (content of the shadow personality in our subconsciousness being manifested in external world as bed things) or by a simple observation that of all the species on this planet man is the only animal with capacity to kill and torture members of it's own species... and enjoy doing it!!!
To me it really seems like hell.
Maybe this world is another planets hell!

I think Eskimo uses 2 instances of Muon Tau VSTi in many of his tracks (inc. Party Pooper).
The second instance is used because Tau lacks velocity sensitivity and therefore makes it difficult difficult to create a running groove using one instance only.
If I remember correctly this was discussed here before, however that was quite a long time ago...

i tried once to copy one of his bassline, playing a loop of his track and making mine.
i got pretty a similar one using the 3osc in FL.
no extra plugin except an equalizer. |

haha cool one ^
i think is impossible to copy 1 to 1 concider u need all this to get exact same rsult:
1.same wavform
2.same envelopes
3.probably same synth will help
4.same plugin chain (eq , compressor , possibly distortion , possibly evrything , and another possible evrything , and possible one more why not)
5.use same group settings if any
6.master the same way
7.listen to your own track with the same respect and positive mind u have on eskimo
all in all , u wont get 100% the same , but u can try to make similar better one

to my ears its a resampled Tau pro with a nice EQ.
However. I'd strongly suggest a synth which has controls for phase start point and midi note on sync, such as Pentagon. (And I'm 150% certain lots of pros use that for bass)
You also absolutely must have a decent quality EQ, such as Gliss 2 or other. The channel EQ in cubase simply will not do IMO.
What I will say, is watch this space, I have something special up my sleeve.

when i met him several years ago when he first was starting to release stuff, he was using a broken tb 303... he dropped it, and it made great bass for him ever since. I'm not sure if he's still using it, since I haven't talked to him in a couple of years, but that what is was right around the time he released "Take a Look out there"

the thing is that you can tweak till your ears bleed cause the track you compare to is processed with Eqs, compressor and limiters and what not to get that commercial sound...
so do like atma, find a nice mastering chain and put it on the master channel and then tweak your track.
If you want to get the "clean" sound from the start
just my opinion and i dont mean that you should work this way just casue it works, sure you can put all plugs afterwards but then you probably have to go back and tweak things again casue you didnt calculate for the sound that the plugs gives.
