hi guys,
i´ve had much problems with making a cool bass-sound, so i decided to clone a Eskimo-Bassline (my kind of music).
i would say i got it really nearly perfect, when i checked the specrum of it i´ve had to laugh, because its so similar^^
i hope not just my monitors show me ghosts^^
first you hear my bassline / second is eskimos bassline
please tell me what you think about it (and dont flame me cause of cloning^^, i just gave it a shot)

hey thanks brain train...
anyone can tell me about this velocity process thing by creating a bass? i know that velocity = speed, but that would be just a right tweaking of ADSR imo.
i have german cubase, and i dont know where to set this option for each note.
i also noticed in eskimos bassline that some notes are "softer" than other notes (you can hear the differenc in the mix above), is this made with "velocity"- option or "anschlagstärke" or do i have to use 2 synth with the same preset and just tweak the Cutoff knop a little bit for those softer notes?
i hope you understand me^^
cheers

hey orgy,
i only can help with the softer notes.
dont heard you mix im on work right no but i think i get what you mean.
This is done with cutoff to velocity routing. Means when you make a note quieter in piano roll, it does also make the cutoff more close.. you know what i mean^^
With wich synth you made it? |

Use the velocity to modulate the filter its cutoff.

i made the bassline with vanguard.
well i understand what you mean but dont know how to route the "virtual keyboards" controller-tracks to the cutoff of vanguard,
and there is no controller-track called velocity in the german version of cubase sx.
ill check that in the forum, im sure ill find something, thanks

infact its "anschlagsgeschwindigkeit" (speed of pressure), not "anschlagsstärke" (intense of pressure)...just wrongly named as that.

Velocity doesnt necessarily have to be linked to the filter cutoff - although that can provide an interesting result as well. By default however, Cubase/Nuendo have the velocity lines under the Midi notes routed to the volume/intensity/anschlagsstaerke, which is probably what you want in this case.

is this velocity effect routed to cubase options or vanguard options?
and how can i set the routing of it to the cutoff of vanguard? o.O
thanks for the great answers, i tested a littlebit with "anschlagstärke" before and you can really create nice liquid basslines^^ but maybe better with cutoff routing...
