What do you think is better, Investing at equipment(mixers, samplers, etc.) which can be realy fuckin expensive, or buying software that can do it also(for much cheeper price)?
Do you think software can do it also? |

depends all on the individual really... some will say midi keyboard, computer, soundcard shit load of software and mad ass monitors.... then in the other hand hardware... for me it is a hands on thing that appeals to me.. having the keyboard there in front of you tweaking it and putting down in to a sequence... having it hooked to an efx rack to modify then having to play with the mixer to get it just right.... yes software can do all this and a great job but ask yourself are you a hands on person with equipment... for me the conversion was naturally to hardware because i played electric guitar b4 hand so i have enjoyed using mixers and efx processors... thing is though if you are going to choose hardware over software you are going to have to sacrifice alot of things in life...$$$.... start saving.... |

Well... A combination of both is Ideal I mean its best to use a computer based Sequencer... Nowdays Fast Computers are ideal just for the simple bit of editing fast and VSt effects etc... However having a synth module is always great.. somehow modules seem slighty better rhan keyboards.. more flexibility/... You can definatly create only on software.. but its nicer to have hardware in the setup.. Conclusion |

I think that there is no question in that, who can win money invests in Quality gear, learns how to deal with it and buy also support hardware for this MODULES!! To reach for recognizement in the production world you have to deal with hardware and create something new with it! These days like we have fast food we have also fast music software like REASON that makes a lot of people think they can do the same with a kids software, that with a studio full of $$$$$$$$!!! Its not the same for me machines are machines, emulation is good but... For me the only software tone generator that makes me rock is REAKTOR and the Plugin VST steinberg HALIUM . THE REST SUCKS

I think the fair share of software is about 1 to 1.5% of the total production. The rest (99-98,5%) should be pure warm HARDWARE! ;-)

Hardware sounds sweet, but getting it working and synched is a serious pain in the butt (IMO). Besides, playing with hardware knob is so fun!
