Alright after WAY TOO MUCH listening and tweaking, i have to show... or listen... or whatever. Please be critical, especially of the low end cuz I am on headphones, but I would like to play this at a festival later this summer and would like a heads up if its not going to cut it.
Also, i realize there are a few notes that are too loud and i will fix them (you can see them coming on the waveform).
Thanks and enjoy! ~Luke

Nice intro, cool bell melodie.
As usual i only listen with the laptop here. The bassline sounds tight and chunky still. Cool kind of spooky feeling, the track makes me think of soumi 4:35 is great, now we are underwater. The downpitched atmosphereic sweep sounds in the back are nice!
Take care of those high levels, then you have a super nice track! =)

really killer track this one is... I'm listening on headphones (i mix in headphones) and this sounds very crisp. Nice stereo image too.
Only thing I can point out is the bass phasing at 6:16, but maybe you want it like this It can get a bit overwhelming in a big sound system.
Also the off beat open hi hats could have a bit more presence in my opinion.
Overall just a great track full of enegy and many details. Also the story and melodies are awesome.

its very nice now . but the mix is not that good. look i think the bass is too strong and the kick is way too weak and some hats are just too high on volume. it sounds very unbalanced .

you need to tweak the leads so the bass comes out more. KB is ok, it's just the other sounds that are too loud and need a little more eq. Comnposition... I like! Was nice to meet you, I didn't see you anymore @ the party... where did you go, or where was I ...

to be honest, the 147 bpm would normally make me not listen to the track i tend to make slower tracks the older i get and begin find fast tracks hectic very fast, BUT this one is different. fast bpm, yet "slow" and spacious feel, not hectic at all!
great spooky underwater kinda atmosphere as already mentioned. you have a personal twist to your synth sounds and kick/bass sound aesthetics that makes you recognizable in a good way. like the bass slides a lot and that rubbery base sound, sweet.
except for too loud high hats and not beefy and loud enough kick&bass there is nothing much to add besides: good stuff!!!

sorry i think i wrote too much ... like the main thing i hear is that the kick has no presence fogrget everything i said before . The hats on the last part are somehow not glued to the track . thats it i dont want to confuse you too much. i can be wrong too you know.

thanks for the remarks guys -
upavas - it was great to meet you as well, I look forward to seeing you at more festivals in the beautiful BC forests
klippel - thanks for your compliments!
dark - no worries mate, I understand what you are getting at. my car speakers at low volume reveal what you mentioned.
Here is an updated version, KB volume adjusted, hats adjusted, 6.16 phasing fixed, and high levels tamed.
I would really appreciate if you guys could just drop me a line or two regarding the overall balance before I send it for mastering. Thanks in advance, and happy weekend!

what i would suggest is that before you send it you remove all the bleeding that is going on like in min 2.44 . just remove all those not in context peaks ... and if you have a real mastering studio your working with then listen to theyre requests. ... and you still need to turn it down on the bass and still the hats are not glued. its like they come from a different track http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers Wierd shit happens :)

Hey Luke,
I know I said I didn't want to take a listen until you were entirely happy with the mix, but I couldn't help myself, and it will hopefully save any required mix revisions at the mastering stage! So, without further ado, here's what I noted as I listened to it through twice (once on the ATCs, once on the HD600s), a mix of subjective thoughts and objective critique:
1) There are low level cyclical clicky sounds at the beginning and end of the track, they look LFO shaped (like a sine). It sounds very bad. It's the only bad technical flaw in the track. I'm assuming it's on one of the tracks that isn't muted via automation? Perhaps try gating or muting that track, so it's not in the mix when nothing is playing?
2) I love the bell melody, it reminds me of a Balinese scale (I studied Balinese music for a bit, and was there in 2002, big fan of Gamelan...)
3) The kick drum's attack is not very snappy, but I actually think this works really well with the bass line.
4) It's a lovely track overall, nice arrangement, good sounds, great journey!
5) The instrumental balance and EQ is generally fine, everything has a nice space in the mix. It sounds a little muddy and "veiled" in the low mids (300-500Hz), but this is relatively common (at least with ITB mixes of electronic music that I receive for mastering). I notice this most in the lower harmonics of the sawtooth bass line. Perhaps try a small, medium q cut with a shelving EQ around 300-700Hz on just the bass line track, experiment with EQ frequency until you find the place where it makes the rest of the track "open up" a bit.
6) The reverse cymbal sounds a little harsh/ragged, maybe try it a tad lower in the mix, or EQ/LPF it a little up around 16-18kHz?
7) The hats sound fine to me.
8) I love the fact that you HAVEN'T smashed it on the two buss in some misguided notion of "that is what it will sound like when it has been mastered". It breathes really nicely!
Great work overall dude!
All the best and looking forward to having a play with this!

Equilizyme the track is very well made, it will destroy the p.a system for sure and bring the crowd to a frenetic stomping -------------d(oO)b----------------
