hi dude, look ,i can tell you cut this, cut the other, but every sinths, is diferent.
You only have create space for all sinths you have in your project, for they dont match the same frequencies dont ask for pitcure, just use your ear, trust in your ear, and you can do what you want

Cheers

defintly no rules!

so what sound good...

about cutting bass from leads , yeah i do it , start from 150hz and go higher till the sound loose its beauty then u did too much ...
sometime sound can actualy sound better even with all sub and evrything , but this will create mixing problems
all this is ME and not YOU
and thats cause my bass usualy peak at 60hz-100hz , if you want is to peak at 200hz , probably would be good idea to cut more bass from the leads

and remember , what sound good , sound good. its very easy trick .. but its true only if u use studio monitor , and also then acoustic will matter and also your bass size / sub usage

i have the great opurtunity to check my mixes on 3 diffrent monitors , and usualy huge PA as well , which help alot to know what u doing (my first set in club 6 years ago sounded like booooooo , cause i didnt used to cut bass from leads , it sounded good at home , and thats cause i used shit speaker.
