:-D
but jokes aside,
i was really impressed by the quality you get from FL mr.orange
here i was thinking that my parametric eq1 on most channels was one of the reasons my sound can't compare to the greats. you proved me wrong.
slighty offtopic;
i only recently bought a pair of monitors and its making a big difference to how i balance my mix.
I aslo recently spend some time in a studio with a pro and i was amazed on how agressive he gets with the EQ on certain instruments.
I mean, you learn what you can on these forums but until you sit and watch a pro and query his dissisions on why he EQs this and that way, and you can hear why,, it is very hard to appreciate the big scheme.

i use eq when i need to use one and im using it softly or very aggressive..
and yes some sounds do need a hard eq to fit a mix some others dont.
fl peq has a very aggressive slope thats why i use it.. it has good control over q and gets very surgical if needed.
although i tend to avoid boosting with it.. it gets kinda weird but in most cases you get better results by cutting than boosting.
example..
if you want crisp highs cut more low/mids than boosting highs.
our sound is far from driven snow or greatness but if i can say a tip from what i have learned over the years is that...
tools are there to be used and abused but eq/compression are essential for music creation and most eq..
master equing and you are half way on sounding "pro"
use compression when its absolutely necessary and use wise.
ok im going back to my spaceship now..

it s funny how it s easy to get fooled by our eyes in audio.i guess some companies used that to make some money with plugs like eqs, always same code ,different gui and engineers are arguing wich one sound better in forums haha it s not far from that...

i certainly agree when it comes to Eq plugins but the delay and reverb plugins are much more different from each other. |

eq are tools to clean your mix. you must have good sound before you use eq's. don't think that if you don't have good sound it's because you use the wrong eq. it's not related to any eq at all. i i think today the diffrences between eq's are not such big like at the past and even the built in cubase eq does proper job. don't waste your time on trying to figure out which eq is the best. and again, your tracks should be sound good before you use any eq's. |

does enybody know of a good eq for my second hihat?
i have a great one for the first but need something specific for the second one!!
come on dude... any kind of the known eqs will do the job.. use the one you use on drums for the pads.
i still use for the past 6-7 years flstudios parametric eq 1 for pretty much everything exept mastering
for god sakes

Holy Cow... So much for flak for what?
For god sakes what? Was a pretty basic question. I know its all about getting the basic sound right and sounding good. Eqs are just lil helpers to make it more clean.
I've tried stuff with various Eq's on a lead for example... Sometimes it doesnt sound the way i want it and sometimes it does... and sometimes i go back without the eq and it sounded better. It's all about experimenting to make the sound better.
If you look at Ozone 4 for example, you'll have certain presets specifically for each thing... like cymbals, percussion or even the Genre based eq/master for DnB and breaks. R u telling me that your mix wouldn't sound a little better with these ? I was looking for some stuff along those lines. I am not saying with "this EQ" is the best or "that EQ" is the best for this. I am just looking for good specific eqs, obviously to experiment. Geez you guys have to make everything sarcastic here dont you ? Come up with something constructive please.
@ Elisdee ... Yes... some of the URS ones are pretty good! I use them quite often.

eqs that comes with your sequencers usally have lot of presets, C5 chanel eq for example have many .
but presets are a bit usless for eq cause each mix/sound are different ,the trick is to try to visualise frequency range in your head , the more you get used to it the more it s easy to know what frequencies you like/dislike in a sound wihtout even touching the eq but preset can be good , it can show some equing you would never think to do |
