When doing surgical eq i mainly reduce by between 2-6db but is there any merit in just reducing it completly?

Something like that. Seriously if you want you can put chocolate on it and a crispy shell if that's the tone your looking for.

I always find if I think I have over EQ'd something, all I have to do is take a break and come back and see if I still like it. Most of the time I do
