EQ & Signal Processing

Hello everyone,

I was curious to see if anyone has any favorite books on EQ or signal processing that they could recommend?

I've been reading through the various posts in this forum and many people seem to miss the point that many of the sounds they're trying to create are actually the result of EQ'ing and signal processing - and not a result of a single tweak of a knob.

I've been studying a production/mixdown tutorial from Sound.org (the Trance Experience tutorial) and have learned SO much from just seeing how the various EQs and Plug-ins are influencing the raw wave files in the songs. And it kind of just hit me in the face that so much of the Goa I first fell in love with (and still love) has sound elements in it that result from this type of manipulation.

Since I'd like to expand my productions into the Goa genre (and I use the "g word" on purpose...I don't care for the modern "psytrance" sounds) I was curious if anyone could recommend any good books that discuss signal processing that would be very "trance relevant."

Thanks for your time and any suggestions!

Peace,

Jim

Thank you. As I stated in my original post, I've read through the various threads in this forum already over the last two months; and have taken many good notes.

My question was for book recommendations on EQ and signal processing to expand my knowledge beyond what's already been stated in the threads.

Thanks & Peace,

Jim

This is the best book I ever seen on DSP. Well balanced, very clear and uses math only where it is inevitable.

I would go ahead and by this book, it's called

Mastering Audio
by Bob Katz.

Read it a few times and you should be sufficient in signal processing. In my opinion one of the best books for audio period !!!
