S Cube Low Pass all the synths (give the higher for your hats only), increase their volume (they're called lead for some reason), and don't forget to stereo enhance everything.
personally i don't like to take much from the hats, a well lowhigh passed lead will seat good

I do highpass my leads & i've thought about but never bothered low passing them..i know this depends on the type of lead you want but what would be a good frequency to low pass them so the hats sit nicely on top? finally what do you guys use to give more stereo image to your mix?

doesn't need to be hard... depends on the mix type you want. i usualy cut at 12000hz, if it sounds bad i increase and i decrease a little to check if it sounds bad. just sweep arround this area and use your ears
for imager i use S1 it's the best undoubtfuly. |

one more tip... you should hi-pass/low-pass everything. every sample/synth has unwanted frequencys which will increase it's volume and may clash with other instruments. for me a golden rule of mixing is no waste |

I wouldn't stereo enhance everything without having to. That is also wasting stereo space that can be used to mix conflicting elements easier. A great mix consists both stereo and mono sounds.

So i wouldn't advice to reduce or boost nor cut at all. these cuts and boosts can cause much more dB jumps then original version.

i'm i misunderstooding or you're telling me not to EQ at all? you can hi pass low pass everything but when you play it all at the same time you'll have the whole spectrum. you can also automate the hilow pass filters (so you turn them off during a break and on again when the kb+percrusion starts again).
i can't understand the point of your post.

nolighattheend and how do you know that i don't know what i'm doing? are you telling me i shouldn't EQ because i don't know what i'm doing? i've EQd without knowing what i was doing and because of that now i know what i am. so i still see no point in your post. sorry if i'm misunderstoding you again but everytime you post here it looks like you're talking to a newbie and you're not. |
