i don't want to be unfriendly, please don't misunderstand me.
but the best tutorial is not to be lazy and to learn to use the search, be it forum search or google.

good luck for your music creation. feel free to ask whenever you need help, but ask specific questions |

well equing is somethin that can be done even by common sense imho...just keep tweakin till u get the perfect sound now since u're usin tau pro, try lowerin the higher frequencies and in the mid frequencies (that is if u're usin a parametric eq) u gotta decrease some and increase some till u get the sound u want...hope that helped |

It all depends on which tone your baseline resides in and your kick aswell.
for example, you made a bass in A1=55hz
though maybe you also have C2=65.41hz in that bass, so you want these freqs to be there. now if you have a wimpy baseline synth you might want to boost the roots abit, but just a bit cause its a very fine line, listen to your bass in both 2.1 systems and common Hifi speakers, you might notice that in 2.1 systems that the bass is a bit much and in hifi speakers its maybe just right, but to be on the safe side make a lowcut on the final mix and let those with hifi speakers boost the bass themselfs.
lets carry on.
if your lowend of the kick is deep like 30hz and up you might want to cut the baseline here, and when i say cut i dont mean thats its all gone, (see the mother of all mastering threads) this is cause the baseline will hum very low and to make room for the kick you need to cut the bass, if its not the opposite, the bass is the lowest part and kick is on top. one thing though, if you cut the baseline too much you will seperate it from the kick and they wont hum together and it will sound wimpy..
it all gets more tricky if they are closer together cause then you will notice frequency clashing, meaning that the two elements colide, you can do some heavy Eqing or change the tone of one of the elements.
a known trick is to carve holes for the elements,
best for this is to use a frequency analyzer, now you will see where the elements reside and by that info cut one or both elements. if you see that both elements has a bump in the exact same area then they are fighting for this space and will probably sound muddy, see what happens in the frequency analyzer if you for example move the baseline up some tones. if you change resolution on the analyzer you will see better, i recomend Voxengo SPAN.
Good luck..

UnderTow - cause when they master the tracks they cut them hard
this is pretty interesting cause when you mix the track and you listen on differnt system you think its to bass heavy maybe, so you start to cut and are remotly satisfied, then when you going to add some final touches you notice that the final eq is making the track wimpy, so instead you should have left the bass and kick alone and just let the final Eq do the changes...
but not always.. but sometimes it can be like that |
