Good morning
Supose that you have a track in wav format and you want to get it up or get it more powerfull.
What do you think its the best way to do it?
Should i split it to 3 or 5 separate frequencies files?
any clue? |

Hi fingas!
I don`t understand what you want to mean with this:
"Should i split it to 3 or 5 separate frequencies files?"
But this i understand:
"Supose that you have a track in wav format and you want to get it up or get it more powerfull.
What do you think its the best way to do it?"
My way to put a track more powerfull is compression, but i make this when i am going to do the final bounce in the arange.
When the tune is in wav,i only normalize, and more nothing.
But it`s cool to see more opinions about final mixes.

splitting it up into 3 or 5 different files based on frequency is probably asking for trouble - all sorts of horrible phase issues may arise if you do anything slightly wrong here.
perhaps what you are getting at is multiband compression?
this is certainly the best way to makea track more powerful, but do not be tempted to do it 'manually' - multiband compressors have to be setup very carefully, with the crossovers all worked out, and all sorts of trickery, to ensure phase doesnt become a problem when the bands are recombined. if u want to do this, use an actual multiband compressor.
i'd recommend looking into the izotope ozone its a nice mastering tool which includes multiband compression as well as a lot of other things tho. WARNING- (1) multiband compression is very difficult to do well, (2) multiband compression is very easy to do badly, (3) multiband compression done badly will RUIN your track, (4) the presets in the ozone are rubbish.
So be prepared to spend a long time learning the tools and using your ears to get good results.
For more worthy info on mastering, u might try these links (they are on a drum'n'bass producers forum, but the info applies equally well to psytrance - i make both):

hy there for me .. its both of the opinions , or i bounce each chanell ... audio tracks whit the fx all in one file wave , and each drum in each file wave .. like the sinth stuff ... and o try to masterize whit a good mixer gear .. ,or .. for who don't have a good mixer for that ...u can always going EQ the track during is performance ..and at the end .. whit a multipresseur like multipresseur from logic audio .. and u power up the thing that u whan ,,and u shut the thing that u whant to .. at the end .. normalize the file .. and u get a bether kuality whitouth spending money in studios do masterize your tracks ..
i hope u understand what i whant to say whit that .. good luck

just play with the mixer until the track sounds the way you want it to sound. actually the track should be made so well before mastering that it doesn't need much fixing because you can't correct badly mixed track when mastering. other thing to do is not to master it at home at all if you're going to have a "real" mastering to it beacuse then there isn't much left to do for the masterer if the track is already maximized and everything. imo first you should concentrate on the mix and when it truely ready (like it sounds taken from your favorite record) then the mastering. and if you ain't a real pro I wouldn't master it myself because it easily ruins good song if it's badly mastered.
