i started to do a mix to my track . so i've put an eq on the basskick group and i cut all the frequencies below 35. the master channel show now that the bassline is doubled is volume (from -10 to -5), and the kick is still -10. but i can't tell that the volume changed so much by ear and i fill i should live it like that. what do you think i should do?

usually bass is the same rms as the kick, sometimes 1db lower, trust your ears, if it sounds good, just leave it.

what meter are you using? if your bass is that much lower than the kick, and sounds just as loud, perhaps its missing some lower end.

I bet if you have the low cut way down there's minimal change in volume but as you move it up the volume increases?

Try a different EQ with a less aggressive slope. I guess it's probably a low frequency resonance problem, though I can't clarify that. It used to frustrate the hell out of me too.

What I'm starting to do more and more is not using a high pass filter for cutting the subs and started using a typical bell slope.

it s cause of the phase shift caused by the filter, it ll move some part of the wavform more than others .if you wanna check, generate a square for example at 50 hz, then highpass it there and look at the waveform.
try less aggressive slope or linear phase filter, or no cut at all, peak or shelf filter are more transparent (doesn t mean it sound better,it depends..)

I tried also waves q8 (all the 8 q's set to hi pass with steepest slope). and it's doing the same thing.
i noticed also that the kick is lose its volume at the meter. from -7.5 db to almost -11db!
so before the eq my kick was -7.5 and bassline -10.5
and after the kick became -11 and bassline -5.5
but the wirdest thing is that i can't realy hear this changes! it's sound almost the same!

i was wrong it's not changing the volume of the kick almost. the kick was -10.5 before the eq.

Sounds to me like your monitors don't go low enough for you to perceive these changes. Aggressive slopes do tend to boost the cut off frequency, try a less steep one and if there's still too much sub, just move it up slightly until you find a balance you like.

As you have Q8 would I be right in assuming you have the REQ's?

I always had better results with that.
