ok i have this pb for a while...
when i have a bass note on the same beat as the kik they collide...
like the kik sound s little different... how do i solve that pb?
i tried many different settings of eq, but nothing seems to work...
i hear on some tracks that they have a bass note on the same beat as the kik and it sounds fine..
so how should i eq so i don't have that pb??

Most don't...
I don't put bassnotes on the same as the kick, but there is something called ducking. If I figure out how it is done, I might just use the bassnotes on the same note as the kick sometimes... If anyone can point me to the thread that explains ducking, that would be excellent!!!

usually, if your kick and bassline compliment each other (they are in the same key, work well together, etc), then you wont even notice that the bassline doesnt sit with the kick. Also use sidechaining. Search for the forum for "sidechain" and see Colin 000D's post. Good luck. |

Since search is not working....
Use a compressor with sidechain capabilities, for example TC's VST compressor.
Route the kick into the compressors sidechain input.
With TC's compressor you would load the sidechain plug on the kick channel.
Then load the compressor on the bass and activate the sidechain.
Normally a quite high ratio and fast attack and release is good.
I'd say that you are better of contolling the length of kick and bass sounds and if you want to play kick and bass at the same time lower the velocity on the bass where it clashes.
Having said that I do use a sidechain compressor sometimes to make it easier to make kick fills without having to edit the bass as much.
But then the compressor is set up to only be apparent when the kick is clashing.
I just do it because I'm lazy though, editing the notes will sound better
It can also be nice sometimes when you use a bit slower release to reduce the attack on the first bass note after the kick to make a more "oumpa oumpa" sounding feel to it.

sometimes when the bass is at the same time and when it s well done , it s give a killer groove , like in the old trance , was so good on the dance floor.recently i heard some russian trance with the bass is louder than the kick , it s give a nice effect and groove. |
