Two lo cuts on slightly different, but close freq's, just for having a deeper cut or/and more accuracy - sounds good, but looks somewhat spooky.
Is there a reason to be scared and just use one band ?

Only thing i can see is that it will affect the phase of that track, that is unless its a linear phase eq, then you can have as many as you want in a row until your cpu peaks           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

yes have multiple is ok and even great
colin like to have them on same freq and make them into 48db filters and i like to use several 12db in diffrent freq

why this would make phase problem i have no idea but proper dc offset fix should take care of it           www.sattelbattle.com

Yes but not more so than using a filter with a higher slope.

Linear Phase EQs have their own issues (Pre-ringing smudging the sound). Phase accuracy isn't the only thing that counts.

shouldn't present any problems... as i understand it, it doesn't really matter how many poles are holding up your tent

Well the ringing will depend on how high the slope is.
Higher slope, more ringing. Start yank with a chebychev-filter and you end up with your pre-ringing

But are we discussing filters here? as far as i understood the topic-creator he wants to do small adjustments not start cutting with high slope filters           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

Well to me an HP or low cut is a filter.

Also, you said you could have as many linear ones in a row as you want which implies a high slope.

Just use the graph eq of cooledit when you badly need a deep HP. It goes till -90db. off=off.

If you need to use a plugin, use a 8 band eq, put one on HP and the other ones on BP. If you hp at like 1000 hz at -12db, use the bp's to make the hp even deeper (all bp's at their minimum with average q). I've tested it & it works.           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog
