enjoy yourself, or slaving yourself?

hello ..
It began four yeas ago at my first trance party. I Had this first psychedelic experience. SInce then everything in my life developed around this. I introduced some tracks to some friends and took many of them with me to parties. They liked, but didn't loved as i did. So i had to create some virtual friends as i went to each party, so it felt cosy. Leaving real friends to have fun with the scene i loved was not difficult. Four yeas later i realised that i didn't socialised too much out of party, as the week was school, work...
Today i am sick, and i can only think of this virtual friends who i meet only at parties.
Anyway, it is just a thing that put me in a very different view then anyone else. It is nearly a year that i try to get out of anything related to trance. And realising how difficult it is been, how easy it was to invent a virtual world to enjoy myself, how it infered on my feeling related to some people i always met there.
I ask myself something, Am I tripping (even not touching even a beer for a year) because I loved someone at this point and can't get away from all this? Or it is just the fact that we are not really enjoy ourseves at this events, but paying ELF experiments with our own lives?

Immersion in a scene or culture like this is all too easy. The important thing to realise, is that your old friends that did not love it as much as you, should always remain your friends, never become a slave to another scene or culture.
Second point, the "virtual" friends you make.....encourage them to meet you outside of parties, so you actually gain some knowledge of who they are, where they come from and what has shaped them the way they are.
If you do not do that, you will find yourself in the situation you are in now...
I have some friends, which do not like trance at all, people I have known for a long time (20 years), but I still enjoy their company as we do different and varying things together.
I have also made some of the most amazing friends at parties, all of whom I see outside of this crazy environment.....so when I actually see them at parties, I have more to talk about than ..."wow, great song", or ..."did you go to such and such a party last week"...
Perhaps this could be a learning point for you in the future, to always maintain a piece of yourself and never lose yourself 100% to anyone or anything...

nice words mate! something like this happens to me, most of my friends dont like trance, and my relation with them was a litlle "distorced" by that, but soon i realize that if they dont like, why shoud they? I like it, that's whats important! and they're still my best buddies, and sometimes i even go alone to trance parties and try to have fun with all those people that i dont know!
keep the good vibes in your heart SIAKO, it's all that matter... if you feel like trance is making you bad, you shoul try to see why is that happening, because you know as well as i do that trance music has nothing to do with it!

Most of my friends don't like trance. The ones who like (or the ones who have an idea about what is psytrance) are the ones I introduced, bringing them at parties and giving them Psytrance CDs.
But all of my friends like different things. I share with them what they like. I like many other music styles other then psytrance. I'm open to listen to any kind of music, like Coldplay and Oasis, which is what my girlfriend like (she don't like psytrance at all).
My advice is: Always keep what you like in your heart. Specially your friends. And always be yourself. Throw yourself at what you want and love, let yourself change as your life change, but always remaining true to your feelings.

Totally cool and true topic man, not to worry it's happened to many of us also me. But what happened to me is that when i was young i used to not like trance at all and some of my friends really were already into it! Now i used to still love good music but not Goa for me it was dark and evil Deuuuuu!! hehehehe so we used to have a lot of conflicts about this..Some years passed by went to India and Australia and then suddenly after Infected Mushroom live in Sydney i was into something different better happier life the music filled my mind with energy new ideas, love peace and non stop dancing! Oh this was wonderful experience for me and when i returned to Malta i found my friends and we joined together like family...Nowadays even though i have my trance friends i still have many friends with whom i still enjoy other things and i remind myself of how i was before and how i am now! It's not easy to accept other people's opinion but it's not impossible either you just have to find your way in life dude! Keep smiling friends are all over the world you just need to open your hearth and there you go!

its normal.in life we meet people from different walks! something common sparks a friendship...and it grows from there.
there is so much to learn and explore in people,all people.true,the music can change your life and your perception about life,but it doesnt change the fact that once upon a time you shared something special with a person, dont hold on to the past,appreciate it for being there and always remember those who were there for you.
we all have different tastes and likings,its how we accept the other person for who they really are!!in the end,thats all that matters

it is good to feel understood...
it was just a doubt of how strange it is to like so much people from this scene and think so much of them without really knowing them...
but i guess it happens everywhere, after all, it was time of my life that i expended sharing same vibe anyway,,,
the old friends... we are not the same but we always friends.. so true...

to late to give my short opinion? I say enjoy yourself  I dont have any "religius" believes, so since we only got one life... Well just enjoy yourself, but its good to have different kind of friends, dont you think so?
