what exactly does an enhacer do ...is it a kind of compressor/limiter ..

can anyone explain exactly how an enhacer works ?

from what i learned a enhancer is like a eq only for higher frequencies.. or similar they excite the higher frequencies of the sound spectrum           http://soundcloud.com/brentmalik

yesss they give some warmness for upper freq´s!

but i doubt there is any eq,it add harmonics and it s not only for the high frequency depending the one you use .it can fuck your sound if you re not carefull.
at mastering it can be a pain to fix these tracks so overly processed and digital sounding,use these processing with caution,often less is more like for everyhting
