Yes Im using a laptop unfortunately..
The most tempting thing bout this card imo (besides the dsp effects)is that it has mighty converters..
Thats the reason for its price and the main difference between the simple 1616 model.
(when i get a proper desktop pulsar is what im getting
)

I am not sure if I am getting a desktop soon enough..
Even if I get one i would still like to continue using the laptop with a good soundcard.
I have already started making music and with my brother as well for some time now.But he lives in another city so it gets difficult going and coming back every time..
I have a couple of keyboards and other modules and use them as controlers so i think buying another controler would be too much.
I need the card tohave good A/D converters so i can record the synths in good quality and then take the tracks(and the hole project) to my brother's studio to complete the track and master it.
Thanks for your suggestion but the next thing that I would buy (after the pc ) is a nice mixer and outboard fx.Thats all on the long run tho..::)
ps:Pulsar prof. is just so Fiiiiiine

the guy never asked for a synth/midi controller....
pcmia/cardbus is the best audio solution for laptops (at least for pc , for mc use firewire), i know i tried MOTU and Maudio firewire devices on my HP Pentium4 laptop and none worked properly. Now i use an echo indigo series (cardbus) and at least for playback is awesome. I wouldnt go for usb if a had a lap. I am planning to get the emu 1616m for two reason ... the multi in-outputs, the integrated mic/line preamp (yeahh!) and dsp power. EMU ive heard is very good, i know RME is better but far more exppensive. i think the 1616m is a excellent choice for a laptop based studio (like i want) , i will get it, soon...

The EMU cards are fine. I have owned the 1820M for some years now and have NEVER had a problem.
nolightatend - to say that it is too expensive
is nonsense. You cannot buy any other card with these features and this quality for the price. Sure RME is great but the price difference is HUGE so IMO it's not even relevant.
piXan if you want to read everything you will need to know about the EMU range of interfaces look here:

It's the best source of info for these cards with many experienced users participating in the forums and will help you to make an informed decision rather than to take the bad advice that has been offered here |

Just ordered mine , not the m model but the 1616 ... specs look great . I was going for a firewire card initially but definetely not the best choice for a pc .. lots of problems there
For its price (400 eu) you cant get anything better , did A LOT of research on it cheers

i saw the technical specs and i was amased that they could make such a thing for that price. But they were bought by creative labs. And if there is one thing i know about creative it's that they can't make decent drivers... I use third party drivers (made by somebody outside creative) for all my creative products, and it works much better like that. |
