Elysium Biography
Kristian Thinning Andersen was born in 1966 in a small town outside Copenhagen. Since the age of twelve he has been involved in making music. He grew up listening to all kinds of music from Jazz, Rock to Classical music. Thanks to his Mother who took him out to see live concerts he discovered the wonders of music. Later on he listened to music by techno and electronica pioneers such as Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze, Kitaro, Yellow Magic Orchestra and Jean Michelle Jarre.
Strongly influenced by the following 80’s New Age Wave he started to create his own music inspired by legendary bands such as Japan, Ultravox, Visage, Heaven 17, Human League, Gary Numan, Simple Minds, Devo, DAF and Depeche Mode etc. After a couple of years trying to find the right sound and direction he joined the band The Innocents as Keyboard player/Sound sculpture wizard. Five years down the road the band stopped caused by one too many up’s and down’s in the music Industry. After the band got dissolved Kristian took a break from music and got involved in different business projects.
His appetite for creating music once more came alive after staying in London in 1990 listening to new groundbreaking music played at the early Warehouse Parties. Full of inspiration Kristian went into the studio in 1992 to create new tunes. One of the tracks “Tundra “got very popular in the clubs in Scandinavia and in 1993 a 12.inch was released by R&S Records (Belgium) under the project name” Tundra“. After leaving R&S Records his second project Sonar Flowers was released on Danish label Out Loud Records and in 1994 Kristian decided to form Elysium together with Co-producer Carsten Wigant who left Elysium a year after. After many days and nights in the studio Elysium was signed to the Belgian label Nova Zembla Records. In 1994 Nova Zembla records released the debut 12.inch Project One which became very successful across Europe. Following Project One Elysium released now considered to be classics such as Dance for the Celestial Beings (Album), Monzoon (Album) and Master of the Rainforest (E.P.)
Elysium has an extended catalogue of releases on top labels such as Nova Zembla, Dragonfly, T.I.P., BNE, Matsuri, Flying Rhino, Avatar and more including six Albums and numerous singles and compilation releases. Elysium has played all over the world and is back with a 1.5 hour live performance playing new as well as old classic tracks remixed and produced into today's high sound quality. Be prepared for a unique quality live set of Ethnic Goa and tribal trance bound to hypnotize the dance floor. The Winter of 2010 will be a busy time for Kristian being locked down in the studio finishing the circle with the forthcoming Album Dance for the Celestial Beings Part II due to be released in the fall.
The Summer 2010 Tour is currently being organized.

The task of uploading the whole Elysium back catalog is almost done with a few tracks gone missing.
Monzoon (BNE), the special israeli release, was not included because the tracks included in this release are to be found on other releases on the site.

The Yemaya and Xanuba 12.inch originally created with WORM in Amsterdam is now available as a free download (wav/mp3).
A big thank you to draeke, a member on psynews.org, for sending me Xanuba. I've been looking for this track for a long time since the original Studio Master DAT tape was infected with Data skips.
