electro can be very psychedelic, i've heard sets that more than prove this. bad thing is i don't know a lot on the subject and i'd really like to learn some!

Here is the real electro. If you believe that techno started in Germany - then this early German techno is exactly what electro was (although some of it was produced in the US as well). If you believe techno started in Detroit - electro is its precursor (along with Chicago house). My friends and I used to call it "break-dance music".

Electro and electro-house aren't connected in any way.
