I once stumbled over a cool effect... I took the sound of glass shattering, and a pretty standard crash cymbal - opened soundforge, and fiddled around with the "acoustic mirror". It's in the effects- or proccesing-menu I think. It crosses two sounds in some weird way, that I don't fully understand... But it's nifty
If you want your crash to be explosive, why not try crossing (mirroring) it with a rocording of an actual explosion...? That could be fun

is accoustic mirror just in soundforge, or is there some kind of plugin that "connects" 2 sounds? nice idea there |

do some layers, try cuting the low frequencies from the crash and fill them back with some strong breaking sound or such, add reverb and try also using the waves Rbass as fx
good luck

Zooter> I don't know if what accoustic mirror actually does, but I haven't seen (heard) it anywhere but in soundforge. I suspect it's some form of convolution of the two input sounds, but haven't checked it out yet...
It's a *very* nice idea, and you can create some wonderfull transperant leads and atmospheric pads and drones with it.
When I'm done with my master thesis in two weeks, I'll try to pick up on VST programming, and maybe try out the convolution idea
