is there a diffrence? sometimes i think that there is no reason to put a compressor for example on a midi line that im going to export anyway... also i have a suspicion that compressors for example, are less accurate on midi then on audio..... actually not just compressors.. most effects and plugins come to think of it.

let me get to the point, should do as little as possible with the midi channel? maybe just some eq and the main effect and do the rest in audio? will it be more precise? less? same?           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

midi is just notes and controller information, so if you run a compressor or eq etc. on a midi instrument, you always run it on the instrument's audio output.

or did i misunderstand what you meant?

yeah , running a compressor or eq on a midi track ?

what sense does that make anyway ?

you will put in on the audio out of the corresponding midi track and then bounce the synth part , makes sense and u can thrn swtich off those plugins to save cpu

I mostly use fx on midi channels while putting together the track and the arrangment. Then i export some audio files without (deactivated) effects, then i load the audio and route it to the old fx channel and activate the fx again. If i am completly statisfied with the result of midi/audio with fx i render it with fx to save cpu. You can also render with effects like modulations ala delay/chorus/phaser or something only and deactivate dynamics to add them later in the mix.

I usually bounce the synth with most efx already on it. The only time where I disable the efx is if I have it routed to a group send.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Yeah... Whatever works best for you. With Cubase, it's a little easier for you to add the efx after bouncing it because of the one shot processing capabilities, so you can do it either way.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
