agree with disco hooligans , don t even try these plugs ,it was fun few years ago but now..experiment with samplers and audio editing ,take a bit more time but it worth it. (it s what inspired these programers to make plugins like that ...but imo it s plugins for noobs of audio editing and it don t make you really stand out from others ,you need to surprise, ppl need to ask themself how the fuck you did that )
try expirment with samplers ,modulate filters ,pitch, loops points ...try bouncing a audio loop each time in a different effect then cut only the part you want and make a new loop, things like that , a lot more fun than these plugs

what kind of snobbish bullshit is that... use everything anytime in combination with everything. "it was fun years ago but now"... "it's a plugin for noobs of audio editing" ...

my god man, hear yourself talk. And then you state the most obvious (different effect and make a new loop) as if it were original.

ANY tool is worth checking out and it's all about combinations anyway.

I agree with Bandarlog. A tool is just a tool. What matters is how imaginative you are in using it.

well maybe it s snobbish bullshit for you but when you know how to use a sampler and just using effects on loops (not sure you got what i mean with that so i give you a link http://www.cosm.co.nz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=200:todays-video-creating-a-glitched-out-drum-loop&catid=20:news )you can make a lot more intresting sound and not like something that have been done 200 times already but maybe you don t care about that.i think i m right saying these tools are for noobs of audio editing sorry ...

to me just hearing glitch i find it amateurish(depends the effects used in glitch) when it s well hiden it s ok yes but you can make a lot more crazy and complex things with editing by yourself imo
so effectrix vs glitch i say eventide or stfu !

save money and use glitzh:) Effectrix looks cool though but it costs.

Regarding the use.....whatever just use it. It doesnt make you less of a producer because you dont chop you own shit or whatever. " i use a normal screwdriver, dont use the ones one battery....faaar to easy to get the job done!" almost the same           - If Chuck Norris has 5 dollars and You have 5 dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you. -

more snobbish bs only now more personnal. Don't think you know what I'm talking about either when I say combinate the efx in order to sound original. Helas no video tutorials for that as far as I know.

e.g. efx rack with:

1. dblue glitch on bitcrush
2. efx of choice
3. reverb
4. stormgate setting 1
5. stormgate setting 2
6. stormgate setting 3
7. efx of choice

Assign parameters of dblue bc to midi (turn)knobs and the dry/wet of every efx (especially the stormgates) to (turn)knobs or pads (on/off). Then implement in track recording several versions using techniques similar to your tutorial. Now where exactly will this make me sound any less original because I'm using dblue as part of this chain?

Exactly. It's the subtleties of HOW you actually use any tool that's the key, to me at least.

Also, as an analogy, this is all kind of like someone saying 'you're not REALLY phasing something unless you record it to a reel to reel tape and then MANUALLY slow down the tape as you rerecord it.' Now doesn't that just sound silly?

Also, for me, one of my favorite uses of glitch is to kind of use it to create chance operations, if you will. I like to stack different instances of them, with varying amounts of randomness, looping on different numbers of beats. It always surprises me when I do this.

Of course, I usually throw about 3 other fx plugins to that chain as well. Just to make things more interesting.

Doing all this manually would A)suck in the sense that I don't have that much time to devote to this silly hobby of mine and B) I wouldn't be surprised by the results if I didn't leave some of the parameters up to chance. Being surprised by what I'm doing is very key to me.

But then again, maybe I'm just naive. I like to think I'm a little more John Cage and a lot less Stockhausen.

Replicant, dblue, effectrix, livecut, they all seem to have something that sets them apart from each other, so I use them all. Theirs also a ton of Reaktor patches that seem to take the multifx to another level. Also, beatrepeat is tasty if combined in a nice big effects rack.           http://soundcloud.com/tactile-one

Not to mention that so many people have released tracks with blue glitch that it's sound is easily recognizeable anywhere, especially that tape stop sound. (Not to mentiont he vinyl effect and the x-loop on Effextrix kick way more ass anyway.)
