has anyone gone for an eeg test immidietly after listening to an hour or more of psytrance. i just did my eeg test. my result will be out soon..prior to that i was listening to some dj set 150bpm.
during the test they flashed strobe light for 5 minutes, it started slow and then it became faster.
one thing i noticed was that the light while slow i could see black patches, when it it was fast i could see fractals and when it became really fast, it turned neon, like glow sticks.
the person conducting the test asked me to open and close my eyes every few minutes, while doing so i noticed that the person left a hologoraphic image in my mind, a shadow of sorts.
speed of thought and the movement of the needle and the drip of the inkjet and the memory of the sound causes a frequency flux in the brainwave pattern. now this reaction can cause your mind to react in strange and unexpected ways.
i feel there is a superimposition of images and sounds from that memory is created with it we percieve reality.
i am pretty much convinced psytrance has the potential of use in psychiatry. just put the headsets on the ears of the braindead and blast it high decibels for 2hrs everyday and with this sort of conditioning even a Tribal from south america with mental retardation will soon be giving a lecture at IEEE on Future of Open Source in fluently in Swahili English and Chinese.
maybe i am streching the rubberband too much but hey its a only a rubberband..its cheap and its free..Go Ballistic

Honestly if the EEG showed nothing people wouldn't care.

The EEG test should be made WHILE you are listening to psytrance! To bad this wasn't the case...
It would have been very interesting. |

I find it completely questionable that psytrance would drastically effect the mind of someone who doesn't like it or hasn't heard it before - and yes I think you're 'stretching the rubber band' way past its breaking point saying that it will just gift people with knowledge.
In order for it to expand your mind, you have to want your mind to be expanded.
Yes, this music is awesome. Yes, it effects us in interesting ways, but it is YOU the *person* that is causing that effect on yourself just as much as the music.

Nevertheless, the state of trance actually has an EEG signature. And it's my understanding that trance music has something to do with the state of trance and is not just a name for a 4/4 kbbb musical structure.
True, it's unlikely to make you speak Chinese. But remember - Swami is a poet. It's just one of them metaphors. Or one of them hyperboles. Ahm, ... maybe both?…

turn on, tune in, and trance out
great paper really, may have missed a few key points in the development of the culture as worldwide phenomenon ((ie not just coming out of goa)) but he really hits the nail on the head with his research into the ways the music with intended focus affects ones brainwavelings.. |

I am no EEG expert, but I think there's a marked distinction between a *trance state* having an EEG signature and *psytrance* having an EEG signature.
I'm fairly certain that if you were to monitor me under the 'influence' of say, OOOD or Hallucinogen, you would detect a trance state on the EEG - but if I were listening to dubstep, most likely not
light-hearted digs at bad music aside, you can intentionally design music for a trance state (as many of us do...some successfully, some not..) but if the person actually listening to the music isn't on the same relative wavelength then I doubt it will translate to a trance state.
But then again, if someone can go into a Coma for a while and then wake up completely 100% fluent in a language they've never spoken before, then why shouldn't it be possible for really great music to make you trip balls in the office?

i feel since music can enhance or change moods..it can also teach stuff..brainwashing with music is common thing, to propogate propoganda to..your nations national anthem is nothing but a song with music and see what it does to ..it gives your spine a hardon..how do you think pop music survives?? so i dont think i am stretching the rubberband when i say to use subliminal persuasion to teach the inept things like language and cognitive skills...

wtf. That`s a thesis? 45 pages. Outstanding. Well maybe the author finds something revolutionary in this low quantity of pages. |
