Can anyone point me to some good tutorials on micro editng/ chopping audio/gliching. I'm grasping the basics with kick and bass etc but struggling with fills and variations.Ive had a go at cutting muting sections of audio but it doesn't seem to sound like how i want it.I'm used to midi but want to start learning working in audio

My kick fills don't seem to sound right either,i have them triggered in battery with sidechain.I have tried dotted, triplets etc...Do I need to bounce to audio then chop them? Here is an example of something similar to what i'm trying to achieve. (stuttery kick fills at 38 seconds, and general editing through the track)

.I've tried googling/youtube but not found anything of use.I realize it takes years to get this good as the track above

many thanks

Practice makes perfect. The more you try, the more your learn and the more you realize you can do. Why don't you try posting your own sounds and get some feedback..

At the example track: the break at 38 seconds is made with the bass notes, where it passes to a 3/4 concept for 1 beat. It probably has a tripplet stutter efect (cutting the audio in the 3/4 fashion)

Thanks knocz ,Cheers for taking the time to reply. Will have a play with time sigs...

I posted the track i'm working on at the moment in the workshop in its early stage. Got some feedback and help off Ethik mantis which really helped, and got the track heading in the right direction. below is the latest version so you know where I'm at...and the bottom track is my first psy track (WIP)

thanks

Use the sample as audio and then chop it move it edit it to your hearts content.

And about the sidechaining. It is easiest to use a ghost kick (with audio output on 0) as a sidechain trigger in case you want to do some stuff to the kick but not the sidechain signal.

in my opinion, bounce and then chop chop chop. in audio you get everything in perfect snap

Many thanks for the feedback and taking the time to post. How do you guys work? Should I bounce down a section to audio tracks then chop,or finish the whole track then do all the fills and edits purely in audio, or bounce down some midi to audio for kicks for fills. The thing I'm not sure about is trying to get all the levels to match.

Will look into the ghost kick sidechain supergroover, cheers

thanks Scott
