What do you say about the combination of an EDIROL UA-25 and a M-AUDIO AXIOM 25?

I have the UA-25 and I hate it

It only has two ins and outs..basically for studio-only use..but it's fine if you never plan on playing live with it..works well..

Just don't make my mistake of not thinking ahead..

The axiom is a great controller..I'd go for that over anything else..Novation ReMOTE 25 if you decide to look for something cheaper, but the Axiom is worth the price..

You mean, Edirol is only good for home production...?

If u want more ins and outs, u can use adaptors m8...

i am refering to it's sound quality basically...

hhhmmm i dont know how u can increase the inputs of a 2 in soundcard with adapters???

second and most importand... the axiom isnt a soundcard its a midi controller!!

sound quality of the edirol is nice for the money but u must consider that is a usb 1.1 interface means that will have some noticeable latency!
if u want better quality u spend more money!

soundcards with good quality and budget price are...

these are all tested among producers and all of them work fine!

Thx for the links man!

Are u sure the UA-25 is USB 1.1 ?? The site of EDIROL doesn't say anything about it....that's why

In this case i should go for the FA-66....?

I prefer EDIROL than M-AUDIO, on audio interfaces, and TERRATEC....

i dont understand why most of the firewire interfaces iv looked at dont say it has ASIO drivers..

im looking for a interface aswell, for my laptop.

im thinking about the Novation X-station for a all in one solution, also the presonus firebox and alesis multimix 8.. the X-station is usb 1.1 and that is what holds me back a little... its very confusing, should i go for firewire or usb? hmm i want something handy! and stable of course

Me 2 man! Looking for some good quality and not much expensive!
I don't know if i should buy EDIROL FA-66, which is FiReWire, or to get, with the same money, the UA-101 which is USB....

http://www.thomann.de/gr/edirol_fa66.htm
or
http://www.thomann.de/gr/edirol_ua_101.htm

They both offer the same stuff...the only difference is the number of I/O's...

I have a UA-25, and I honestly love it. I don't really need a whole bunch of outputs for playing live, mainly because I use the mixer in ableton instead... I used to have a firewire 410, and a firewire audiophile, and both of them gave me many problems playing live, especially outdoors. Now, no real problem with the soundcard at all, and no need to plug it into power.... I honestly think that firewire is overrated unless you have a 6pin to 6pin connection... USB 2.0 is quite fast, and you don't have to worry about power issues with the USB sound card that I have. I can use it while my laptop isn't plugged into the wall, which was something my firewire cards could never do.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

ua-25 isnt usb2 and also try to send 2 stereo outs with a usb 1.1 interface and see what happens !!

its good to look at ur future cos when u will need the extra i/o u will not have it and u will regret about it!

also mubali m-audio cards have been always akward with many pcs!

my terratec works in 5 different pcs 3 of them laptops and never had any issues!

I also think that multi outputs is important... Mainly cause I don“t like Ableton mixer and peak values.

So, if u are planning to play a live act with several outputs, think about it... It“s not so easy to handle the mixer with the mouse(unless u are using a midi controller), and I fell much more confortable monitoring using the mixer cue...

I use a M- Audio 410 FW. I have MANY issues about it: the COntrol PAnel freezes if I try to change any sliders while playing-back any audio; shi* Power AC(every little touch at this, and the sc restart); and many more... But I still like it. For the price I didn“t find 8 out“s/Firewire soundcard...

From the options I saw the Edirol Fa-66 also to buy. This looks great, the material of the product is also real good(looks very strong). I did not buy it cause it has only 4 audio outputs, and imho a non-sense rca input audio...

So I emailed tech support at roland and they told me that it is usb 2.0... wierd... I dunno... I probably won't keep this card for very long.. it was just a quick fix untill I could buy a new card.. I never used the multiple outputs in my m-audio... and I just run a brickwall limiter to keep peak values from being an issue...

At the same time, most of my live sets are relatively limited till I get my macbook... right now just gotta earn the money to get it... in the meantime what I feel is it's very difficult to actually recreate the energy that most of my tracks have live on the fly... lots of audio trickery and whatnot, so might as well let the tracks do their thing and ensure a seamless energy flow. I'd honestly rather dj, but nobody will fly you out of country just to dj...

At the home studio though, got a MOTU 828 and I really like it... But I never would bring that to play live with... I'd rather find something that's cheap but effective to perform live on... I've lost too many soundcards to have an expensive to only play on one or two channels...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
