I dont imagine the converters on something in that pricerange would be too amazing. They would do, but if you actually are after good converters, look at the RME fireface perhaps. It seems to get good recommendations. Thinking of getting one myself soon. About twice the price though |

I have one. I bought it for 300€ to do lives with my notebook. But it doesn't work. Tried everything, posted on every geekforum there is, no answers, don't work. And the funny thing is: it does work on my desktop! So basicly I'm screwed cause I can't go back to the audioshop cause it works and I can't go to the notebookshop cause other 1394-stuff will probably work too. So plz: test this soundcard on your notebook before you buy it. If it works it's a sweet card but you just don't know on advance if it will.

ho
thanks for this tip bandarlog
cuz I'm thinking of get this one
for sure I will test in the shop with my laptop
I'm in doubt between the Edirol FA66 and the Presonus Firebox....wich one of this two you guys recomend me ? I like the fa66 cuz of the analog limiter, the 2 headphone's out...and the firebox sounds sweet cuz of the good preamp's and the software route mixer... so I'm very confused..
thanks

It's an alright sound card if you only want one stereo out and one in, but the headphone channel is the same as the live output, so there's no way to monitor. Basically I don't think it's a wise decision to make to buy a card without at least 4 outs/2 ins unless your budget limits you to it.
Nothing of a hardware "problem", I just don't think it's worth the price.

Go with the Firebox..you don't really need a limiter if you're recording properly. You can have 2 headphone outs if you can use the firebox the right way, which has at least 2 stereo outs. Firewire is also a lot faster than USB and better for recording, as audio signals are transferred faster. The Firebox would be the wiser decision in my eyes. |
