thats because its all good, as iv done my part by posting a comment about how strongly i feel about this subject online instead of actually taking real action. You know, im so cool that I have also joined myspace and facebook communities against global warming and seen youtube videos of killing of polar bears in the arctic.. and even accepted every petition for a good cause that has been mailed to me.. and ofcourse if thats not enough i get stoned and listen to lot of nature and earth worshiping music.. and think of all these things that iv done (look above) and feel like a good citizen Nothing is said that has not been said before.

Hmmmmm, whilst I agree with the sentiment, I suppose you would say that "women's rights", "animal's rights", "minority rights" etc etc are just mere neo-liberal trends....
You know many of the corporate fascists said just the same thing before they went on the biggest industrialized killing spree the planet has yet seen..
The "real dialogue" is actually seemingly more subtle, and not so "popularist", out of which the ecology movement, and such emerged. It is a trend to a fairer, more justice, better educated, knowledgable world for all, rather than just another repetition of the pretty tribal/territorial squabbles that have gone hand in hand with "liberation". All those people in history, and most of them that made a difference, did so by making a choice.....
A choice to live in fear or love....

Definately anywhere that someone can convince another that they are "lacking/needing something" there is a metaphorical buck to be made.
And whilst it might be a "capitalist" system, I object to the use of the word "game". It is neither voluntary, nor are the rules clearly laid out, it is not fair, and it is for most people NOT fun to play.
It is a capitalist con(fidence trick).
Hence one might suggest we need the confidence to point at the emperor's new clothes, and declare very loudly "how naked he is".

who cares about a trend or a documentary?
Just do what you think it's right. Inform yourself, be critical, read different sources etc.
If you don't care about being ecological, don't be.
If you do care, be.
But certainly don't: care about ecology but do nothing because there are populists, conspiration theories, people who use ecology for their own interest etc. That's lame. Stay educated and select what you support, do.

Hey at least it's a better trend than much and might lead somewhere good .. What I dislike among other issues is that a lot of farms etc after the trend boom on their ecological food just had to put on a stamp on their already ecological food and they could rais the price + sell more because of the trend. But I agree with you gutter, it's about populists. Hey, maybe now that Obama has recieved, or will recieve the Nobel Peace Price he will be forced to never invade any country while he is in power. Each time he's thinking about invading Iran or smth he will look at his Peace Price on the fireplace shelf thinking it would be a huge loss if it was taken away from him

Sorry, but what exactly are you attempting to express aside from your ignorance of the scientific substance of the environmental debates currently circulating in the public sphere of discourse? One thing I'm really tired of is hippies and counterculturalists who shape their alternative identities by taking the stance that anthropogenic global warming is some kind of scam to introduce a new tax and further oppress the working class or some such nonsense. Right, like Al Gore is going to make a killing selling this fake idea to the world that cannot be substantiated by independent scientific research. Oh wait, it can! We're not arguing about vice and virtue in a Shakespearean play here. This isn't the humanities where all you need to do is come up with a convincing argument. You also need data to back your claims... and we have that. Not to back all claims, of course--climate science is incredibly complex--but, much like our understanding of evolution, we know for a fact that human activity is gravely impacting many essential biogeochemical cycles all over the world in measurable ways. It's not all hot air when you can jab an instrument into it and collect data substantiating the argument!
P.S. it's more environmentalism that you speak of, not strictly "ecology."

People are stupid and the only way to get them to do anything is to scare them. Global warming doesn't exist - climate change does. The effects man has had on the planet are still up for debate.
What we SHOULD focus on is renewables for the sake that fossil fuels are not an infinite supply. However, it's a lot easier to get people to move money if you tell them the world is going to boil if they don't start using solar and wind power and driving "eco-friendly" cars.
Here-say is bullshit when it comes to this subject, if someone doesn't have scientific proof to back up their claims, slap them in the face and move on with your life.
