Surprise! For those who are interested in the Mayas and their calendar, this year, the Eclipse Festival weekend corresponds to the Mayan calendar's New Year... Those will be celebration days for the Mayan New Year, celebrated during the “Day Out of Time”, i.e. July 25, 2009.
The Day Out of Time has been celebrated all across the world since 1992 by a populist movement that aims to set in place a harmonious, unique calendar: a lunar-solar calendar comprised of 13 28-day months (13 x 28 = 364) +1 day out of time, July 25. The holiday is a day of forgiveness, liberation, peace, and culture. It’s also an opportunity to experience the freedom of being alive! The Day Out of Time’s official flag is the peace banner. The idea of peace through culture comes from Russian artist and diplomat Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947). This banner has become an instrument of the upmost value in expressing the aspiration of living in harmony, for the protection of the biosphere.
Solar-lunar calendar
What’s a calendar for?
It’s used for us to be synchronized!
The calendar idea is based on the natural constants formed by the Sun and the Moon’s cycles, in order for us to live in harmony on Earth.
365: number of days for the Earth to revolve (a complete circuit) around the Sun.
28: average number of days for a lunar cycle (or a woman’s menstrual cycle!).
We thus get a 13-month year.
What is time?
Time is mental atmosphere, the 4th dimension: living “here and now”. Time is a frequency. The frequency of synchronicity, the true measure of time.
Energy times Time thus equals Art: time is art, not money!
