and to those people who think maux is really trashing xdream, think again. he is only getting people to go and listen to the album themselves so they can form their own opinions. maux may be arrogant and annoying but he's not stupid. it's all about the money and marketing with these guys. bad pub is better than good pub, right maux. by the way how's that shitty smelly album of yours coming. from what im hearing, the village is diggin it too much!

Damn, there are harsh reviews here...
Of course this is not the better Eat Static album but there are very good tracks in "Back to Earth".
I just have the conviction that Merv did an album FOR Interchill, creating a sound that matchs well with the "Interchill sound", especially with all these ethnic influences.
To be honest, I was especting an album with more tracks like "Tenth planet" or "third nebula", previously released on Interchill VA's.
This album is sort of a mix between "Crash & Burn" and "Hi-Fi companions", the sound is wiser than "In the nude" or of course "Science of the gods".
As for "De-classified", I had the same impression that it was a Solstice album order.
But in the same time, the chill-out tracks on this album are almost more "Eat Static" than those on "Back to earth.
Anyway, this is still a very good album, far above 3/4 of the psy-chill scene.
There are real analog synths, the sound is still massive.
To those who think Merv isn't able anymore to produce huge breaks tracks as he did before, I suggest them to take a listen to his Dendron project :
"New Sensation" is one of the better break track I've ever heard so far, as for "Naughteous Maximums" (VA "Future sound of Exeter 10")

For me it's the same
To me it isn't. I think the least Interchill deserved was constructive criticism as opposed to impulsive.

So what you're saying is: Maux can't say ANYTHING about ANY Interchill release only because the same label released his album? LOL
no...what they are saying is: maux can't post about anything here without being attacked by a bunch of paranoid morons.
those who hold the flag of respect here should remember what is the respect for different opinions and taste (impulsive or not)....sorry but I don't have any shame...
not the one you want to project on me....
I am sure that my comment about the eatstatic album will not damage or increase the sales of 1 unit...and that for sure eatstatic album will sell much more than mine (as deserved by their shining carrier) and that it has been a better deal for Interchill.
(tony....you are so smart...you understood the secret promotional plan...do you want to work for me ?)

"sorry but I don't have any shame..."
Unless there is something between you and Interchill we don't know about, unfortunately, your statement appears to be the case...

Holy smokes.
What's with these negative reviews?! I don't understand it.
Its a brilliant album. No questions about it.
The people who diss it are just plain wrong and biased.
The chilling spirits track by track analysis is rather amusing because it shows how completely ridiculous the negative and unwarranted comments are. It almost reads like a vendetta against Eat Static or Interchill.
And Mauxuam's rude comments about the album are definitely unjustified. Wheres the respect?
To all you dissers of the Eat Static album out there, SHAME ON YOU!
Seems to me that you're just as biased as those negative reviews you criticize. Just because it's your _opinion_ that it's a brilliant album, doesn't mean everyone else _must_ see it that way. Where's your respect for the opinions and interpretations of others? Two sides to every argument with the truth somewhere in between.
I really don't see what all the controversy is about. So what if some people posted negative comments about this long awaited album? Even those who come off as excessively crass. They've stated their opinions, accept them or write them off, and move on. Regardless of any negativity here, Eat Static is the banner for some incredible talent and Interchill is going to sell a lot of copies to happy listeners who _do_ like and appreciate this album.

do you live in a Harry Potter book or what ?==???
I signed an album deal with interchill...not a lifetime partnership...not even Warner Brothers can ask to one of their artists to not critisize any Warner Brothers production....
I have the feeling that if instead i was posting an amazing review of this album...you bunch of morons were ready to shoot that I was kissing Interchill ass only because I was grateful that they give the opportunity to a cunt like me to release an album....I may be wrong...but...
anyway....sorry...but since you don't shine of understanding...I will try to explain again...
I only said that IMHaVPO (In My Humble And Very Personal opinion) it is impossible to critisize properly some music from internet samples beacause 30 sec are not enough and that ALL INTERNET SAMPLES (not just Eatstatic) are crap....a crap way to make a choice....
about the eatstatic album I only said that basically I don't like it...and that some tunes are irritating for my taste...
I haven't stated that who buys or likes this cd is an idiot who don't understand what real music is...or that the production is shit...that Merv should stop to do music...or any other kind of bollocks...
Instead YOU paladins and professors of the RESPECT and the HOLY TRUTH are insulting me and those who don't like this album (like chilling spirit) with any sort of low (and lower) level insult and critic....
and even saying that I am trying to use this thread to promote my album instead...
you are full of demons...not me..and if you so touchy you better build barricates behind your desktop....
BTW: Liquid Stranger album is KILLER...on Interchill...

"I signed an album deal with interchill...not a lifetime partnership...not even Warner Brothers can ask to one of their artists to not critisize any Warner Brothers production...."
Notice, Interchill didn't ask you not to criticize them and neither did I (and no I have no affiliation with them).
Think about it for a second, the label invests time and money into publishing your creation. In a way they put their reputation on the line and give you great exposure worldwide...
Their owner says "if it is just subjective opinion then who cares, but if it is well thought out criticism based upon a close listen then I'm curious."
and what do you do in return?
You say "sorry Andrew....no well thought criticism from me..." and proceed with ...well.... no well thought of criticism.
You were not being asked not to criticize and noone is denying you the right to communicate your taste. However, it would have been a display of common courtesy to give them a well thought of criticism if you were to criticize...
"BTW: Liquid Stranger album is KILLER...on Interchill..."
Sounds like like a clumsy admission of guilt.
How about you explain why you like Liquid Stranger and why you don't like Eat Static albums? That would be much more interesting and constructive.

by one of the most bizare stuffs apen to me this last weeks,
i do like this album,
plenty of "style exercice" but, all most merv show us, if you can understand,
he have a real knowledge in music,
is not only copy pasting ethnos elements in random..

totaly true, i agree 100% with you
actualy this album came to late,
after 2 shpongle album (full of ethno-pop clichés).
no more space for some good ethno fusion in a "psychill" vibe....
i did'nt expect anything diferent than this album,
Eat Satic are well know for mix everything togeter, so, the album is, exactly what i expect from "them"
2 tracks got my attention for dj sets, +1 (the best one) is ruined by a strange high noise filtered thing (what a shame) to much disturbing for me.......
voila!
