Wow!
A masterpiece for sure.
There are all kinds of elements in this amazing album, and since it covers a lot of ground, there is a little bit of everything for everyone.
Corta Mocas is most unhelpful, so I would recommend ignoring his negative comments as they are completely unwarranted.
Give the album a good listen, full volume and you will see what Eat Static have so superbly created. |

i was really excited for this one, but none of the samples really grabbed me. it sounds rather bland and uninspired....but who knows, maybe i'd acquire a taste for it? though i felt like i would immediately pass on buying it if the name "Eat Static" wasn't on it....
we'll see.

I have to say that I've lost interest in Merv's music recently, maybe seeing him live countless times over the last year has something to do with it. After a few experimental albums I was quite pleased to hear the classic 'UFO' sound again on DeClassified even if at times it can be a tad cheesey
So these samples seem a little uninspiring, maybe Merv is just going through the motions with this one, not convinced enough to reach for my credit card...
Anyway, best of luck with it to Interchill - hopefully this will keep some interest.

Been through the album a few times. It's not _bad_, it's just not very engaging. |

I think it is a very nice album. Merv shows again that he handels an extreme variety of music styles perfectly well. He never stops surprising me. Also nice to hear the caracteristic guitar play by Steve Hillage in there. Sitting in the sun on the balcony with a beer and this album on the stereo made a nice weekend for me. As always, Interchill keeps a steady quality level on their releases. A perfect choice to get Eat Static onboard. Well done!

Well, samples are supposed to be the best guess indicator as to how the album actually sounds. For those people who have mentioned that they weren't digging the samples and didn't think they'd pick up the album because they disliked the samples, are they really in the wrong to do so? Or should they simply say "Gee. Didn't like those samples too much. Still, let's buy the album so we can find out if we really hate it!" Not trying to be a bastard here, but the purpose of those samples _is_ to give a the potential customer a feel for the entire album will probably sound. |

if you only listen to lite mp3 samples then best not to use that a as basis for offering an opinion.
possibly samples may help you make your own judgement about whether or not you wish to explore it further. that judgement is not interesting to me... only what you think of the music is interesting - and the why...
so much opinion with so little substance... |

So people raving about how great the album sounds based on the samples, "so much opinion with so little substance..."?
I do see what you mean if someone were to condemn the entire album as garbage without having heard it in it's entirety. However, many of the opinions I've read here seem to be more of the "Didn't like the samples, probably won't like the album.", which doesn't seem out of order to me.
