We're happy to announce that Merv is putting the final touches to his album, Back to Earth.

We expect it to be mastered early May and released June 6

Merv just got back from playing with the Ozrics in Tel Aviv, and is getting set for a collaboration with System 7, to be included on the album, before finishing the mixes and getting the premaster done.

the wonderful Inspiral Lounge is hosting an Eat Static evening on May 10th .... with previews of the album.
Naked Nick is playing a DJ set.

Awesome. Only just yesterday did I discover "DeClassified" and a return to their original sound. Now , only a day later, I find news of a new album on the way! *happy dance*

Any teaser tracks or clips to share with us?

Nice! I gotta say, I've been loving the Eat Static chillout material of recent years. Possibly even more than the "classic" Eat Static sound. I'm psyched about this.

Great great great news!!! Will not miss this one, even if the project became solo now.

I'll have to wait until I see all the credits from merv...

I'm not sure if or how much Joie contributed on these tunes...

I know Steve Everett did, and also the great Ed Wynne from the Ozrics...

System 7 will also be adding their flavours to the mix

Eat Static
Back To Earth
Release update: June 13th., 2008

Here's a taste of what's on the way;

After releasing tracks on 7 Interchill compilations to date, the time has finally come for a full length album from Eat Static. Back To Earth is the latest serving from these long-standing pioneers on the electronic frontier. Delivering a solid selection of unreleased tracks, this highly anticipated sonic masterwork is sure to capture the attention of their ever-growing fan base around the world.

Packed with all new material recorded over the past year Back To Earth features an exquisite tracklist of tunes that reveal the true extent of Eat Static’s musical ingenuity. The album is infused with dashes of Arabian and jazzy influences alongside solid rhythmic elements and layers of spaced out, otherworldly effects that bear their precision-crafted signature.

Coursing through breaks, dub and lounge territory, Back To Earth includes collaborations with Ed Wynne of the Ozric Tentacles and Steve Hillage of System 7 & Mirror System notoriety. Complete with an unparalleled degree of stylistic variety and detail, this album lands just in time for the summer season, encapsulating all that people have come to expect from Eat Static over the years.

"Ocean Of Fire" (from Arcana) is a graet example to Eat static's skills in psy-chill area.

Great news indeeeed!

Merv's 3 hour set at Rainbow Serpent's chillout stage this year had some of the best music i've ever heard in my life. A creative mastermind at work!
I can't wait for this gem to arrive...
