>I prefer myself to stay within the realm of the free.

buying cd's needs to be done, these producers dont make shit, download all the pop music you want, you get 8-10 songs for 16 dollars! With plates that would cost like 10 bucks for 2 songs. Plus bought cd's sound so much better. mp3s sound flat.

Let me just say that i've had more fun and felt much more good vibes and positive energy at DMT/barrens party's then any Ecliptic/alladin party. Sure, they're are technical diffuculties once in a while, but thats not what its all about. And its a FREE party so no one should be complaining. At wizzy noise a freaking amp blew and music stopped for 10 minutes and thats not something I want to happen when I pay 30 fucking bucks to get in. A trance party isint about bringing the best international DJ/live act, with expensive 50kw sound systems, and being stuck in a sweaty club where you can't even light up, or even sit down.
and most DJ's at DMT events cant beatmix? Try going to a DMT event before you criticize it dude.
DMT/barrens party have much more Goa spirit then any party i've been at thrown by ecliptic(which totals 3)

no those parties under the bridge are not nothing. nik. . .i have one name for you. . .BRendan ADAMS...he played a ruthless set of dark psychedelic stuff that scared even the ruskies. his mixing was impeccable.. just a beautiful set. i have seen mayura play some gorgeous progressive sets of atmos sensient phony orphants. he as a dj has improved alot over the past yr or so and now does some very creative things with the mixer. and no i know there are things beyond infected but simon is still the greatest producer of psychedelic trance next to boris blenn(by the way boris blenn is electric universe, my personal favorite trance act at the moment)          ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

I have noting against anyone in trance - it would be hurtful, maybe even help extinguish a spark that may growinto the inevitable fire- as long as they do not spread falsehoods. There's aenough fluff going around with falsehoods being thrown into the mix.
I will say though that Ecliptic Trance throws great parties, and they give out gummi bears by the sack.
I personally think that having many overseas djs in one party is overdoing it. I don't think it's financially viable just my two cents.
and i also have to say that i have been preoccupied with free stuff because i went through a very very long unemployed stint. So my perspective was that of a broke almost homeless person. That's a great perspective to have if you wanna knock capitalism. But now that I am working again and makiing money, I will buy CDs again after a very long hiatus.

liquid, i accept your critique regarding the sweaty club... this is something that was a definite minus in ecliptic events in my book. something that we couldnt avoid though... reagarding fun.. also nothing i can say about that as you or others may enjoy things diffrently then me and thats cool.
but i've actually played numerous times at boom for machinelf, the only parties i havent attended were the bridge parties. i trust my friend's (who dont go there anymore) opinion on what is par/subpar... do i have to have an abortion in order to think that it should be legal/illegal? dont go to extremes please.

I think this thread exemplifies what middle americans see as problems with the coasts

Gadi the only reason events were ever held at Boom, a lounge, is for the same reason as this weekend - there are no weekend parties here in NYC for the two weeks. People want to go out, and DJs want to play. Would I do weekend parties at bars again? Probably, depending on the situation.

I felt that a party at a bar was better in community building than no parties at all.

Now, those were events thrown by me, but this was never part of the original thread. The original thread specifically mentioned DMT and that is another animal entirely from what you have experienced. For one, it is alsmost always open air. Free. And the mebers wh pay money to join have a say in all matters. It's a collective effort where food is served and all manner of exotic performances go on. They have been truly special and the best times I have ever had at trance gatherings. If anyone knocks them, that's OK as long long as the facts are correct and not fabricated.

i moved out to Oregon from the east coast this year.... and i think I will never, ever, never move more than 100 miles form the west coast of north america... or look back! I'm just not strong enough to try an eek out an existance and live freely with the OVERALL conservative vibe, scary cops, consumer culture , non-freak friendly atmosphere on the East Coast.

For me, the west coast is just so sane, so refreshing - so "normal" and tolerant

The westward migration of innovation has been going on since the days of the pilgrims and colonial times. The people who got fed up with the conservative "establishment" culture keept settling futher west...

but God bless the few bright lights and pioneers who are trying to keep an underground vibe alive on the East Coast... (surrender, offthenutboom,
blue spectral monkey, Giaian Mind crew, and friends - you know who you are) - you've very brave! LET IT GROW - FREELY FLOW - wide and clear!

tell that to all the white power compounds over the Pacific Northwest.
tell that to the legion of meth heads all over the west coast
tell that to the gang bang mentality that pervades huge chunkc of supposedly hippe friendly SF
West Coast? To paraphrase TS Eliot, there's no there, there. If you look at the actuall numbers, it lafgs the East. If it didn't, I'd be there (lucky you)
When it all comes down to it, SF is just L.A. without palm trees
ahhh Two admen pontificate the coastal dichotomy

my source? maharichie of course anyone who goes to parties in L.A. and has a pulse... i'm writing another Northam survey for Entrance mag, throw me your bird's eye on what's happening there and you'll be credited if anything is included. If somebody says something is good I include it if there's more than 100 people. If someone disses something, I just shut my mouth unless I go see for myself. I especially like the free underground hippy crusty stuff.

this is what i have so far if there's anything missing let me know

*shakes head*

does anyone think that effort would be better spent trying to unite the coasts (and the land betwixt and between), bring the american trance scene together? face it, pretty much everyone has a better scene than the usa.... if we don't learn to work together, instead of against, instead of arguing who's penis is bigger...

Ahh except for China and Africa. Mushroom Mag's trancers guide to the galaxy has an excellent color coded map.
