As far as the technical aspect goes, vinyl is very intuitive. You pretty much just "get it" right away. CD is a little bit more complicated.

But like he, said, actually DJing with vinyl is hard as you need to build a collection which is definitely not as easy as it used to be.

Learn on what you're going to use when you actually play.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

In a practical sense:

-Most parties and festivals won't have vinyl decks set up and would have to be willing to go out of their way to get them for you, unless you want to lug around 100 pounds of gear and records to every place you play.

-If you play an indoor party with vinyl decks, it's very possible for the floor to shake so much from people dancing that you could be skipping all over the place. At the very least it would sound horrible.

-Electronic music (and especially psy) is very difficult to find on vinyl now and it will only get harder to find. You definitely don't want to have to limit your choice in music because of this. If you can find anything it will usually cost around $10 more than the same thing on CD, and shipping will probably be much more as well.           You believe in the users?

All of what Kane said +1.

Playing vinyl outdoors can be a bitch too cause if it's windy it can pick the records up and toss the needle around. You can get something to weigh it down, but still-extra stuff to carry around. Vinyl can also warp/melt in extreme heat.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound
