Hi,

Wanted to share this here. Hope it supports a great, small company, and some great musicians. (no I don't know them and I don't get anything for doing this)

For me the simplest way for sidechaining is:

http://www.bluecataudio.com/Main/Home/

they have plugins with MIDI in and OUT!puts

you take its "peakmeter pro" put it on the, say, kickdrumchannel and let it send the level of the kickdrum to a midicontroller.

Then you take a compressor, Eq or whatever from bluecat put it on the basschannel and assign the midicontroller sent by the peakmeter to WHATEVER parameter of the plugin you like!!

then you make a miditrack choose as input the output from the digitalpeakmeter and as output you choose the plugin from the basschannel.

THATs IT!!!
Nice tutorials on their website

I stopped doing sidechaining with compressors almost completly since I like sidechained EQ gains much more, and find them more precise to use.

doesn't currently, due to a bug, work with cubase 4.. :-( SX works fine. Fruity can do this anyway with any plugin I believe.
